After starting the vehicle, I heard a loud pop and then loud static that couldn't be turned off. The sound is very deafening and hazardous to babies with developing ears. Has happened twice already in the past week.

9/5/2022

Car was in the driveway and refused to start. Back light flashed and the battery died. I stated to the dealership that the adaptive cruise was not working. The dealership stated that it was working and that they test drove it and it was working. I brought it in a second time and stated the adaptive cruise was not working. Again the dealership stated that it was working. Third time I complained and they admitted that the factory had not installed adaptive cruise and that the vehicle did not have the sensors for the Pre-collision Assist w/AEB. They would wait for the parts and install the necessary hardware. Prior to delivery my vehicle had a Factory Hold on it . Ford did not warn me that safety features I had paid for were not installed. Ford had their dealer deny that my vehicle was missing these safety features. These missing safety features and Ford"s denial put myself and others at risk. These safety features was why I bought a new truck in the first place. Ford and its dealers did not act in a responsible or ethical manner with complete disregard for safety.

I started my truck up this afternoon and heard a deafening boom and then loud crackling. At first I thought something fell on my roof and the glass was breaking. After getting out and looking around I realized the noises were coming from the speakers and under the back seat, amp area. The crackling went on for about 5 minutes and didn't stop by shutting the radio off or shutting the truck off. This seems like a very terrible safety issue.

B&O Unleashed Stereo system will produce deafening sound, volume maxed out. The sound is a screeching pulsing sound. It makes your ears ring it is so loud. When you turn the vehicle off it still makes the sound. Turning any of the radio dials does not lower the volume or get it to shut off. You have to get out of your vehicle and wait for the stereo to shut off, can be up to 10 minutes for that to happen. There is no way to drive with it make that noise. You have to pull over and wait for it to stop. This has happened twice in my 6 months of ownership, dealer say the typical, "Can't reproduce it".

Truck check engine light came on and started to blink. The truck would shake when trying to accelerate. Pulled over, turned truck off and the light went off. When started back up it was gone. A few days later the truck did the same thing, but the light did not go off. It remained on, when accelerating the truck began to shake. When I took to the dealer, they mentioned they this truck had a check engine light on when they received, they replaced the ignition coils (under warranty) before purchasing. It’s believed the coils may have gone again. The truck is currently at the dealers getting repaired. For a brand new truck, the coils have already needed to be replaced by dealer.

3 weeks after purchasing my truck, I tried to turn on the windshield wipers and they did not work. Later that day I tried again and they worked. Been 2 days now. Appointment next week.

There are two things that have been happening, and are widely prevalent on different online forums as well. 1) While the vehicle is on the stereo will end up going into a loud max volume crackling and popping and won't shut off even when the truck is turned off. This has already caused an accident. Please see attached forums: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/dangerous-b-o-sound-system-issue.9254/ https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/gremlins-ii-crackling-static.93548/ https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/extremely-loud-electrical-pop-followed-by-loud-static.9591/ https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/my-ears-are-hurting-b-o-sound-system-goes-crazy-safety-issue.91946/ 2) Headlight DRL on Ford Raptor flickers while driving and is clearly a violation of NHTSA safety guidelines.

9/29/2022

Purchased a vehicle with a cord dealership and found out it had a recall (22C22) front light flicker. I was unable to take the vehicle off the lot. Found out this recall has been in effect since roughly August 2022 with no remedy to fix as of yet. I have been checking daily for updates and still nothing! I really want this vehicle and it’s been 5 months since the recall to effect with no fix! Aggrivating

Multiple warning lights came on while going 55MPH down a straight road. Warning lights consisted of Antilock break system fault, Pre-collision assist not available, and Hill start assist warning. I did not have and breaks at all.

9/29/2022

I was leaving the neighborhood and all of the sudden the forward collision warning went off for no reason, luckily the vehicle did not apply automatic brakes. I'm afraid if I was driving on the highway and the system went off for no apparent reason it could apply brakes and cause a crash. The electrical system is randomly setting off all kinds of error messages including random alarms in the middle of the night. The truck is less than a year old with only about 10K miles...the major concern is the forward collision warning that could potentially cause a crash.

The tailgate opens without warning and no warning is given when it opens. The tailgate opens without warning while driving, parked and not running. This has opened on me several time causing numerous safety issues to include contents of my bed falling out on the roadway while driving. The tailgate has opened as my young daughter was walking by and it nearly striking her in the head. As I left the store today when I returned to my vehicle the tailgate was down and had opened while I was not in or near the vehicle. I contacted the dealership where the vehicle was purchased and was told that there is no recall or fix for the issue at this time. I was told they are aware of the issue but could not fix it. There are no lights, sounds or warnings to when the tailgate will open.

On Dec 27, 2022 I was involved in a collision where my F150 would not come to a complete stop at an intersection /red light. I approached the vehicles at the light breaking to slow down but the truck drive gear did not disengage, and I struck the vehicle in front of me at about 2-3mph and then proceeded to push the vehicle into the car in front of them all while I was fully applying the break (foot of the gas pedal). It was not until I put the truck in neutral and turned it off that it stopped pushing the other vehicles. I did not receive any warnings or notification lights on my truck prior or during the impact/pushing. It as if the F150 didn't see the vehicle in front of it and the auto drive system engaged as if it had a mind of its own. The 2022 Ford F-150 trucks are all having rust issues on the drivetrain and suspension parts. The Ford dealer has admitted there is a huge problem. It seems Ford has eliminated a coating on these parts which has allowed rust to develop even before they leave the factory. I took my truck to a local dealer and he refused to fix it under warranty. By checking the online forums you will see this is a huge problem. Rust does not fix itself. Over time it is very possible these parts will fail. I went online with a Ford customer service representative and was told someone would contact me the next day. That has been three weeks, no contact. I first noticed my rust issues a week after I took delivery of the vehicle

APIM (SYNC4) went out and does not work. The APIM controls most functions in the truck. I do not have a working display screen, cannot charge phone, cannot use any of the features I paid to use, no back up camera, and no radio. The trucks user/owners manual is also apart of the APIM (SYNC4) system. Nothing connected with the APIM works. I have waited over 1 month for replacement APIM and Ford has still not sent a replacement. I believe this is happening with new Ford Broncos using the same APIM (SYNC4). There are tons of Ford owner forums complaining about this same issue. I believe Ford and Ford Service is hiding this problem. My Ford Service records shows "Services Performed" as "Unknown."

During the incident, the vehicle was severely damaged. The driver sustained a right-hand laceration and chest and leg injuries. The front passenger sustained both leg injuries. Both occupants required medical treatment. The cause of the failures was not determined. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed to an undisclosed location. The contact indicated that the failures had also occurred prior to the crash. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted regarding the incident. The failure mileage was 10,100.

Noticed when the vehicle was already in motion and accelerating to get up to the street speed the truck all of a sudden starts shaking in the back. My truck accelerated on its own , repeatedly, while highway driving . Had to drive with brakes on until I was able to pull over . Turned off truck , waited a few minutes , turned back on and without having my foot anywhere near the accelerator, the truck accelerated on its own , as if someone was gunning the engine - while still in park . Turned off again . NOTHING was near my accelerator to cause this - I managed to get to the dealership . They said it was my floor mats that caused the problem . They found nothing mechanical. I assured them the mat was not the cause - this truck nearly killed me and I know something is wrong with it . The acceleration was constant , the engine noise loud as if gunning - cruise control was not on . The truck has been driven several times by my husband and nothing has happened, but I will never drive it as it scared the life out of me . This is my 4th F-150 - I know the truck and know how to drive it . This is not normal obviously, and it isn’t the mat . I used the exact same mats in my previous truck for almost 5 years . Then transferred them - it’s NOT the problem ! The truck is dangerous and something is wrong .

9/25/2023

The speedometer does not report the correct speed the truck is going It is off and the faster you go the more it is off. The dealership service manager tried to get it fixed twice and Ford engineering said that’s normal.

Rear window shatter and blowout. Glass sent into the bed. Simply by shutting the door hard. Im a 3rd party bodybuilder who was sent this truck to add a landscaping package to, brand new, no mileage. For the initial measurement it was brought into the shop. After measurements when we were complete it was moved back outside. Simply revering back 20 feet and parking it outside the roll up doors, got out, shut the door and window blew out. Rear window has become a large bubble facing out towards the bed and some glass tempered glass blew into the bed. Local Ford dealer Service Manager was contacted and I was told Ford has no provisions for rear glass replacement from breakage. I was offered our pictures showing the large bubble it made, or the video surveillance. Didnt want it. Provided me with an 800-392-3673 who took my information and then scheduled with that same dealership for the next morning. Same Ford truck team member also contacted the warranty support fleet team, who promptly said no warranty and didnt have to look at any pictures or video since they offer no glass warranty other than front window glass with special circumstances. Did not care there were Ford forums listing the same damage or this issue littered on Google.

In cold weather the automatic side mirrors freeze shut and unable to open. Safety Hazzard while driving. Had this happen to me 4 times where passenger side mirror would not open, had to go to work and drove with 1 side mirror. 1 incident where both mirrors froze shut and when they were trying to open sounded like they were going to break off. Live in South Dakota conditions get cold and features should be operational. Should have a mirror defrost? Deployable side steps have the same issue in the cold, they stick and freeze shut, I need to use them to get in.

I need to address a safety concern! On 3/13, I was driving back home. my 3 year old daughter was sitting in her car seat (behind the driver seat). She pulled the seatbelt from the middle seat and wrapped it around her neck choking herself. I had just got home and thank god I did because this would have been a totally different story. I pulled up to my mailbox to get my mail. I happen to look back and saw she was purple on the verge of blue. I had no scissors in my car to cut the belt. I drove up my long driveway ran into the house came out with scissors and cut the belt as it was locked and there is no emergency unlock button. Her neck was very red and has broken blood vessels. I have pictures to prove this! No where on the belts does it say “choking hazard” I thought seatbelts were supposed to SAVE LIVES! My seatbelt can be replaced however, my daughter life cannot! Thankfully, is ok!! I called a ford dealer to get the belt fixed. Was told it was $1,000!!!!!

While driving, parked or switching to reverse the stereo will emit a very loud noise. Best described as an electronic explosion that lingers. It doesn't just go BOOM it goes BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMM and lasts up to 70 seconds so far. It has even happened when turning the truck off and it persists after everything is off. Ford dealer says "everything is fine" this is a video of it doing it. The rear seats in the vehicle lock in the folded up position, requiring a cloth tab to be pulled to release them down, however the rear seats do not require the same action to fold up. Having the seats fold up on their own seems like a safety concern in roll-over scenarios.

Fuel odor when exiting the truck. Looked under the truck to investigate the gas odor and found a weeping gas line connection between the gas tank and transmission. Took the truck to Gary Yeoman Ford in Ocala, FL and they estimated it would cost $1385 to do the repair, however, they did not give us a copy of the estimate. Called them back today, 11/29 to set up an appointment for the repair and they will call us back to drop off the truck as it may take a couple of days to get the part.

FAQ

What are the most common owner complaints for the 2022 Ford F-150?

The most reported complaint category for the 2022 Ford F-150 is POWER TRAIN, with 102 owner reports. That is about 17% of all complaints logged here. Other recurring themes include POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, UNKNOWN OR OTHER.

Are complaints about the 2022 Ford F-150 a serious warning sign?

Potentially. 231 complaint reports fall into higher-attention systems such as brakes, steering, engine, powertrain, fuel, suspension, airbags, or electrical components. That does not prove every vehicle has a defect, but repeated complaints in those systems justify a more careful pre-purchase inspection.

How should buyers use complaint data for the 2022 Ford F-150?

Use complaints as an early pattern to investigate, not a standalone verdict. Start with the top complaint categories, compare those themes against the recall report and maintenance guide, then inspect service records for evidence that the same problem areas were already addressed. If the same issue appears repeatedly across complaints and recalls, treat it as a real ownership-risk flag.
