Ford Sonic Boom: When starting the 2023 Ford Bronco Sport there was a loud bang/crack sound like an enormous piece of hail fell on the car and the windows were cracking. The car started crackling loudly through the speaker system for about 15 minutes. Car was turned off and everybody exited the vehicle and the crackling continued. Read online that this has happened to other 2023 Ford Broncos and also to the Ford F-150. They have done a software update to hopefully fix the F-150, but they have yet to do one for the 2023 Ford Bronco Sport. This can occur while starting the car or while in the middle of driving. Many have reported having to pull over as driving is impossible with the loud crackling sound coming through the speakers. The sound is so loud it can cause drivers to swerve leading to an accident and injury. Took 2023 Ford Bronco Sport to dealership and was told nothing could be done since the fix was for the Ford F-150 not the Ford Bronco. This issue also hits at random and a cause of timing has not be discovered. They could not replicate the sound at the Ford service center. No code showed on the screen so they said nothing could be done. There were no warnings that the sound was going to occur. At first we thought the airbags went off in the compartments or something had blown up outside. I have heard this occurred while people were driving and luckily I was stopped. I am very concerned if this were to happen while driving as the sound is very shocking. I have also been told if this occurred once then it will happen again.

This is the first episode of this event. I have been driving the vehicle for 17,000 miles. It was raining outside. When I pressed the button to start the ignition a horrifically loud screeching noise that terminated in what sounded like an explosion seemed to come from the passenger side if the vehicle. It last only a few seconds but it created a piercing sensation in my ears and left my ear was ringing for 10 minutes. I had to check my right ear for bleeding. Two hours later, my ear is still warm internally and aching. After the explosion, none of the audio worked on the vehicle. I tried the radio, the phone audio, the maps, and a voice phone call. I turned the car off and then on again. Still no sound. I drove for 30 minutes, waited an hour, then restarted the car and the audio returned. Prior to this, I have had daily issues with the sound mildly increasing and decreasing Independent of the road noise. I am now very fearful that this noise will happen again. If it had happened while I was driving the pain was intense enough to make me have an accident. I am concerned for hearing damage. Since it just happened and it is after hours, I have not taken it to the dealer yet. There were no warning lights or alarms before this happened,

10/5/2023

I’ve owned my 2023 bronco sport for 3-4 weeks and we just had a light rain shower earlier in the morning for the first time in several months. There was no standing water the road was slightly damp. Driving on the interstate if I drove over 45-50 the rear end started sliding or felt like it was about to hydroplane. I was so terrified at one point I was afraid of being hit from behind by traffic going the 70 mph speed limit. I tried to get up to 60-65 but the back end would begin to slip or feel like it was going to slide off the lane. Even the lane assist feature would not keep it straight. Once the Hwy dried, I was able to drive at speed limit without any problems. I called the dealer and they said no complaints had been filed - that I may want to try different tires on it. I looked on the internet and see there have been a lot of issues with the car sliding on wet roads - the traction control is supposed to be engaged when the car is cranked. I did try changing it between all wheel drive and traction control on and off but nothing helped during driving on the slightly damp Hwy.

The transmission has very rough shifts particularly at low speeds between 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear. It feels like the clutch sometimes does not fully engage, and the vehicle over-revs before finally getting into gear. This causes hesitation and poses a safety danger in particular when making turns like left turns in the city from a stop. I am concerned that even with sufficient space, the vehicle will hesitate to accelerate and I could get into an accident. I have not observed any warning lamps or other messages and the vehicle has not yet been inspected. The issue looks very similar or the same as that in NHTSA ID Number: 10231021. I have noticed this behavior since the first date of ownership for this vehicle which I bought new.

Our brand new 2023 Ford Bronco Sport was destroyed by a spontaneous under-the-hood fire that occurred within thirty days of delivery and with less than 50 miles on the odometer. An independent examination found this consistent with a fuel injector fire. Ford Motor Company has publicly acknowledged similar problems with the Bronco Sport models and purportedly has recalled and "fixed" all effected vehicles. We notified Ford of this incident, that the production and delivery dates of our Bronco Sport were well AFTER these recalls had been completed, and that the VIN of our Bronco Sport does NOT appear on Ford's recall registry. In the overwhelming interest of public safety, we have urged Ford Motor Company to recover this vehicle and conduct its own investigation. Despite awareness and prior efforts by the Ford Motor Company to identify and correct defects in the design of the Bronco Sport, the catastrophic failure of our vehicle indicates a persistent problem and a significant ongoing consumer safety hazard. Ford Motor Company has not responded to our repeated requests and we are asking the NHTSA to conduct further inquiry.

My Ford Bronco Sport windshield cracked without a any sign of impact. The crack on the windshield just appeared overnight just below the area of the rearview mirror. There is no sign of a chip that could have explained how the crack would have started to expand. Maybe a stress crack from the factory? After doing a quick online search it appears that similar issue has happened to other 2023 Ford Bronco Sports.

The positioning of the wipers is poorly designed.it allows ice and snow to build up rendering the wipers inoperable and almost impossible to thaw out even with the window defroster .Ford is aware of this issue because earlier models used to come with a deicer.Canadien models come with a deicer.I contacted ford customer service and was directed to go to the dealer, which I did and filed a complaint . the service manage said that's all they could do. It is a safety issue because if you are driving in heavy snow the wipers will become inoperable.this issue pertains to Ford Bronco Sport vehicles.

While my granddaughter was driving this vehicle there was a sudden loud boom and the radio went to max volume, causing an excruciating decibel level of noise and static. Fortunately she was on a low volume road and was able to immediately stop the vehicle in the road (In shock of course) and she then tried to turn the radio off to no avail! She exited the vehicle, called her dad who was nearby and he showed up and turned the vehicle off. This ear piercing noise would not stop until several moments after the vehicle was turned off. This noise was so sudden, shocking and deafening that had she been on a high volume roadway she could have easily been been involved in a serious accident while attempting to turn off the radio (which didn't work) or get to a safe place to exit the vehicle. There was/is also the real possibility of permanent hearing loss!

10/10/2024

See Illustration Overly sensitive driver’s side shoulder restraint resulting in abnormal restraint and the inability to see around the "B" pillar during normal deceleration. When I’m slowing down (from position 3 to 2) with normal deceleration, I’m blocked by trees, buildings, and signs indicated by the hash. Therefore I don’t have visibility of the oncoming traffic until I’ve reached (position 1) @ about 25 mph. That’s about when the harness locks up -- give or take 5mph. If there’s oncoming traffic there’s no issue; once at a full stop the harness releases and I’m on my way. If there isn’t any traffic (thus, no reason to stop); I still have to stop because I’m restrained by now and the “B” pillar blocks any view of potential oncoming traffic. Unlike any other vehicle I've ever driven , I’m unable to lean forward to see around the pillar and make a safe decision to stop or continue into the intersection at (position 0). Imagine you’re following me and have reached (position 1), and you don’t see any traffic so you anticipate that I will keep going but I don’t, I have no choice but to come to a full and complete stop because I don’t know that there’s no traffic. This creates mayhem on the highway and appears that I’m brake checking (or otherwise intentionally irritating other drivers behind me for no reason. This results in road rage and I’m always the culprit since I’m not yielding as the intersection is designed. (this happens frequently at this intersection) If I think about it prior to reaching (position 3 [prior to any significant deceleration]) I will try to lean forward or take hands off the wheel to put slack in the harness so that I’m able to see around the “B” pillar even after the harness locks up. Not only is that not safe, but I’m forced to intentionally override the car’s safety systems increasing the chances of injury if I am in a collision.

I actually love my Bronco Sport! I had car less than a month when tire developed a slow leak! The Ford dealership said I was going to have to buy a new tire at 268.00! REALLY? They said it was leaking due to Road hazard! I have not hit anything! The tire sidewall looks like it separating! I started doing research on the Tire and found out this tire has major structural issues!on Continental’s own website it gets 2.7 stars! Almost all the bad reviews are related to weak sidewalls! Separating, blowouts, sidewall bubbles! My trouble is that these tires should be discontinued and recalled! From Reading the reviews they are dangerous! My biggest disappointment is that Ford would actually put such poor rated tires on a New Vehicle! I am going to have to Replace all the Tires! Ford blames the tires I blame Ford for putting such crap on a new car! Especially a Bronco Sport! This Tire cannot even handle smooth pavement much less unpaved! Warning! If you are buying a New Ford MAKE sure it does not have this crappy dangerous tire! “Continental ProContact tx”

10/24/2023

Tires are Continental 225/65 R 17 On June 18, 2024 the right rear tire went flat in less than 200 yards at 15 mph in our driveway. The dealership said it was a non reparable puncture that split the sidewall. On July 28, 2024 the left rear tire went flat in less than 200 yards at 15 mph in our driveway. The vehicle has less than 2500 miles and never carries heavy loads. I understand that there was a recall on similar Continental Tires. Fortunately both of these incidents happened in our driveway. We live near the Blue Ridge Mountains, had this occurred at higher speed on a mountain road it could have been disastrous.

The hood flew up and shattered windshield while driving. It was never popped or unlocked. This car only has 1000 miles on it. A warning went on seconds before it happened.

7/9/2024

Multiple intermittent occurrences of the following- Transmission: Shifts very rough 30-50mph. Excessively noisy. Far worse when weather is cold. Does not respond sometimes when pressing the accelerator. Feels as if the pedal is pushed and the car does nothing. Pulling back your foot and pressing again it goes. Noticed this trying to merge into traffic from a stop, pressing pedal to pass slower traffic at highway speeds. Have had two different Ford dealers look at the problem, neither has been able to diagnose an issue. Have an appointment with Ford dealer to evaluate again (third time) 2nd week of February due to dealer service dept schedule. Have been told to expect to leave the vehicle with them for 3-5 days for diagnosis. Have offered to take service mgr on test drive to show issue but not able to link schedules yet. Dealers have stated they cannot find an issue and have updated transmission software. Does not fix the issue. Electrical/body: Numerous problems with the following: Plugged in phone drops Apple CarPlay regularly or does not always recognize phone. (latest OS from Apple on both devices). Convenience features like seat memory, keyless entry (touch the door handle with key on you, door unlocks) intermittently not working. Rear hatch keyless entry has not worked in almost a year. Stereo system doesn't always display proper data in cluster, on radio screen. Does not always respond to steering wheel channel change button. Ford has updated software multiple times and above (except rear hatch) will work for a while then problems will start back up again. Vehicle has almost 30K miles and was purchased brand new in July 2023. Factory warranty expires at 36K and I do not want to be stuck with an extremely expensive repair if the transmission does go up after the warranty expires.

I was in a accident where I was not at fault. I had my car 3 weeks. Brand new, it took on right under 20k in damage. Both airbags deployed. They have had my car in the body shop for 7 months. I paid 34k for the car. They won't offer depreciation. They are making me pay a 7k rental bill. The person who is fixing my car has never worked on a bronco. So I am I'm a situation and I really need some help please. I don't feel my car will be safe to drive after all this

Bought this car new only 10 months ago, and have had to take it in constantly. 1. Within a few weeks after purchase, the bolts came flying off the wheels while driving on the freeway causing the wheels to nearly fly off! 2. Multiple recalls for the computer system, took it in at least 3 different times, screen was blacking out and electronics went down. 3. Tail lights went completely out. 4. 3 weeks ago while driving, the Bronco completely died in the middle of a heavy traffic intersection. All doors locked me in, had to manually push vehicle to the side and call for a tow. Towed it to Ford dealer, they said the fuel system went out, they’ve had it for 3 weeks and still don’t know what’s wrong with it!! I went to see the Gen Mgr, 2 employees there said I bought a lemon. GM said if I have a lemon then the whole fleets are lemons. This is a $43,000 car and I should not be having issue upon issue continually. I want them to replace my vehicle or give me a full refund! Very dangerous to drive a car that has severe safety issues!

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

I fear for my safety in my vehicle because it’s been a lot of trouble since I first bought it. The vehicle reduces power and won’t let me accelerate even though the agency said they had fixed it already, the auto stop malfunctions and messes with the vehicle’s engine. Now that this new incident happened with the engine/gasoline that the car started shaking and just wouldn’t turn on I am very concerned. The agency claims it was contaminated gas but I went to the gas station to file a police report and the gas at the gas station was completely fine. There was a recall on the “fuel injectors cracking, causing gasoline or vapors to leak at a high rate onto hot surfaces in the engine compartment.” -nhtsa and I believe this is what might be wrong with my vehicle even though it doesn’t come out with the vin. I drive from home to school, work, and the university everyday and I feel unsafe because the truck stutters which I am certain it has to do with a manufacturer gas tank error. I’m not sure what can be done in this case, but I feel like my life or the life of others is in danger driving it out in the road with all the stuttering the vehicle has been doing even from months back.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS

The transmission and/or shift-by-wire control system appears to have failed. While the vehicle was in motion, the system engaged “Park” and remained stuck in this position. The vehicle immediately became immobilized and could not be shifted out of Park. The vehicle remained locked in Park for 3 weeks. The failure occurred without prior warning and eliminated essential vehicle control functions. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I could not cross the border in a tow truck with a stranger- so I had it repaired in Tijuana at a Ford Service Center. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Ford service facility (Ford Surman BC – Tijuana, Baja California), where technicians confirmed a defect-related failure and performed warranty repairs to restore functionality. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? Yes. An authorized Ford dealer inspected the vehicle and conducted the warranty repair. The manufacturer has been notified of the incident. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning indicators were displayed before the incident. After the uncommanded shift into Park and immobilization, the instrument cluster displayed multiple error messages including “Park Brake Fault – Service Now” and “Pre-Collision Assist Not Available.” Additional context: The vehicle had been serviced at an authorized Ford dealership in the United States less than one month prior to the incident and had fewer than 13,000 miles Vehicle broke down at night with my children in the vehicle. I incurred costs from tow trucks and rentals to get to work the following week. Now with this new Recall and no possible repair for it, this vehicle is extremely unsafe, I have been in communication with Ford and they claim they are going to do nothing about. Please help.
