This vehicle was purchased new on May 23, 2025. On several occasions it has left us 'stranded' due to electrical failures. Dates: 06/09/2025, 07/03/2025, 08/06/2025, 08/08/2025

While driving slowly in B mode, I began pulling into a parking space in Home Depot parking lot next to a planter, keeping my foot on the brake pedal. Suddenly, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated, surged over the tire stop, crossed a raised concrete center walkway, and continued over the planter on the opposite side. The vehicle finally came to a stop after traveling approximately 50 feet, despite my foot remaining on the brake pedal throughout the incident. One tire is flat and the wheel is damaged. There are scrap marks on the other tires. We can not see if there is other damages of the vehicle. Fortunately there were no other cars in the opposite parking spot or pedestrians on the walkway. Vehicle damage is one thing, the safety issue is another concern.

3 times in the last 4 weeks, I have had a situation where I get into the car to drive it and the Infotainment screen is black and not functional. The only way to reset it is to get out, lock the car, and come back 15 minutes later and it resolves itself. During the time the Infotainment screen is not functioning, the car is still drivable, but if you put it into reverse the backup camera is not shown on the infotainment screen, nor are any other of the assistive/safety features involved with parking or safely backing up the vehicle. I've taken the car into VW Service and it came back "unable to reproduce" and "no trouble found", and they provided no assistance in how to quickly restore functionality of the infotainment screen, including use of the safety NHSTA-mandated backup camera. This is a safety hazard, as the car is still drivable and it's likely people who have this problem will still drive the car even though mandated safety features like the backup camera are inoperative.

The brake pedal was applied but failed to stop the vehicle, resulting in a crash with a parked 2011 Honda Odyssey belonging to the contact. There was no police report filed. reported injuries. air bag deployment or fire. No warning lights were illuminated prior to the incident. The local dealer was not contacted, and the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.

On [XXX], I was parking my 2025 VW ID.4 car in a parking spot in B mode and applying the brake to come to a stop. The car suddenly accelerated forward (of its own will) at maximum speed such that the car ran over a bollard, a sidewalk and into a brick wall causing significant damage. In the space of perhaps 10 feet at most the car went from a stopping position to taking out a brick wall on a commercial building. This is so incredibly dangerous as someone could have been on the sidewalk and killed. I could have been killed as my airbag never deployed despite charging with great speed into a brick wall! NHTSA must do something to resolve this. VW has overwhelming knowledge of this defect. In June 2025 a class action lawsuit was filed against the VW for this exact reason - link here: [XXX] Per the lawsuit there have been deaths related to this defect. This was never disclosed to me when I bought the car....as a matter of fact, the EV safety features in their sales pitch was one of the overwhelming reasons I bought the car. There are also many blogs related to this issue describing almost exactly what happened to me. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicle launched forward while parking going thru a CMU wall, causing considerable damage to the structure and the car itself. Airbag was deployed injuring the driver and causing a cut in the bottom lip and skin burns on the left hand from a small fire that went thru the clothes. Also, the driver was in state of shock after the incident due to the speed at which everything occurred. During the day, the driver complained about dizziness and pain at the base of the neck, numbness/pain in the face. Additionally, the driver pressed the brake pedal to try to avoid the crash but did not prevent the car from launching forward. It appears that the capacitive controls located on the left side of the steering wheel, were inadvertently reengaged while the driver was maneuvering to park. VW of America requested the car to be dropped of at the dealer but has not looked at it as of the time of this reporting. The incident occurred earlier this morning and still getting appraisal for damages of both the property and vehicle. No warning lights were present before the incident, however there were anomalies with the infotainment system days prior to the accident.

I drove our ID4 to pick up a neighbor's son from school. Using the regenerative braking mode, I came to a stop on a side street, just beyond a school crossing where middle school kids were everywhere, at which time the car lunged forward at a high rate of speed while my foot was still on the brake. Luckily we ran into a parked service van that slowed our progress while I put the car in the parking mode, which finally stopped the car. We both experienced the hard impact of hitting the truck and noticed that the air bags did not deploy. There are skid marks that confirm that the brakes were employed while the car moved independently. We are grateful we didn't hit anyone. I will not drive this car again. There were no indications that anything we amiss prior to this malfunction. Our insurance adjustor will be coming by in the next day or two to inspect the car. This could have been a tragic event!!!!!

The vehicle has difficulty coming to a stop and requires slamming the brakes in full which causes a loud churning noise, the braking is intermittent, sometimes it works well and sometimes it works terribly. It is a huge safety issue. Also the lane keep assist seems to not work so well as well, it will drift out of the lanes at times when it is on

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the Year, Make, and Model, was not equipped with the feature, potentially in violation of the Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act of 2010. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 3,100.
