TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 HYUNDAI VELOSTER. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS THE ENGINE STALLED. THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD AND OBSERVED FLAMES AROUND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN BEING PLACED INTO DRIVE, THE ENGINE MADE AN ABNORMAL THUD SOUND, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STUCK, AND THE BRAKES MADE AN ABNORMAL WHINING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO EMPIRE HYUNDAI (428 PLEASANT STREET, FALL RIVER, MA 02721) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE FAILURE WAS NORMAL AND WOULD CORRECT ITSELF. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11.

ALL THE SENSORS ARE CONTINUAL REGISTERING PROBLEM. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WILL STOP WORKING DAILY. CANNOT HAVE HOOD SHUT WHEN KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. IF SO ALARM WILL GO OFF. SUSPENSION IS OFF. IT SEEMS LIKE THE CAR IS PULLING A CAMPER ALL THE TIME. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN CONTINUALLY GETTING WORSE THE PAST 6 MONTHS.

I WAS DRIVING THE 2015 VELOSTER TURBO ON A STRAIGHT PORTION OF THE FREEWAY BETWEEN 65 AND 70 MILES PER HOUR WITH THE SUNROOF OPEN. THE SUNROOF SHATTERED UNEXPECTEDLY, AND GLASS FLEW BOTH INTO THE CAR, AND OUT BEHIND THE CAR. THE GLASS LANDED ON MY ARMS, HEAD, LAP, AND WENT DOWN MY BACK AS WELL. I SWERVED TO THE RIGHT AS A REFLEX TO BEING STARTLED, AND THEN OVERCORRECTED AND WENT LEFT PAST MY LANE. I DID NOT HIT ANY CARS, HOWEVER. GLASS KEPT FALLING ON TO THE FREEWAY, INTO THE CAR, AND ON MY HEAD FOR A FEW MORE MINUTES AS I MADE MY WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. ONCE AT THE DEALERSHIP, I INSPECTED THE DAMAGE AND FOUND THAT THE GLASS SHARDS HAD MADE MANY CUTS INTO THE PAINT TOWARD THE BACK HALF OF THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP LATER HAD ME CIRCLE THESE SCRATCHED WITH A WAX PEN. INITIALLY, I WAS GOING TO BE CHARGED A DIAGNOSTIC FEE, BUT WHEN I MENTIONED THAT THIS HAD BEEN AN ISSUE FOR PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS, ANOTHER SERVICE CONSULTANT JUMPED IN AND TOLD ME IT WOULD ALL BE TAKEN CARE OF UNDER WARRANTY.

KUMHO KH TIRES ARE DANGEROUS. THE TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE DO NOT QUALIFY FOR TAMY CURRENT RECALL. THEY DESPERATELY NEED TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED DUE TO POOR QUALITY, SEPARATION AND LOOSING AIR. MANY VELOSTER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE AND DEVELOP AN ACTION PLAN TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM. MANY THANKS!

I HAD MY 2015 VELOSTER AT THE DEALER 5 TIMES FOR THE AUTO TRANS SOUNDING LIKE THE AXLES WERE BAD WHEN GOING INTO REVERSE. TRANS WAS FLARING UP BETWEEN 1-2 & 3-4 BUT WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL.THAT WAS 5200 MILES. AT 14314 THIS BAD CV JOINT NOISE STARTED & AGAIN WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL.AT 20859 TRANS WAS REPLACED PER THE HYUNDAI FIELD ENGINEER. BOTH PROBLEMS STILL THERE. NEVER EVEN GOT IT HOME BEFORE NOISE STARTED. BACK IN AT 25878 WITH BOTH PROBLEMS AS OF YESTERDAY & NOW THEY ARE SAYING ITS A CHARASTIC OF THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE TRAVELS 240 MILES PER DAY AS U CAN SEE BY THE MILAGE. IF THESE AXLES OR CV JOINTS LET GO MY WIFES LIFE COULD BE IN DANGER AT 70 MPH. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI VELOSTER. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN REVERSE, IT WENT INTO NEUTRAL AND DID NOT IMMEDIATELY GO BACK INTO DRIVE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CHANGED GEARS BY ITSELF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER UPDATED THE COMPUTER. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE DAYS LATER AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO THEN CHANGED THE GEAR SHIFT ACTUATOR. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHIN 24 HOURS AND THE VEHICLE WAS ONCE AGAIN TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE GEAR SYSTEM WAS COMPLETELY DISLOCATED, UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH A LOANER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONTINUED TO CHECK ON THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,900.

OVER THE PAST 2 MONTHS SQUEALING NOISES HAVE BECOME VER NOTICEABLE ON THE BRAKES. SUPPOSEDLY IT IS MOISTURE, BUT IT SHOULD NOT HAPPENED WHEN IT IS 98 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. I WENT TO A LOCAL WELL KNOWN MECHANIC SHOP AND REPLACED THE BRAKES THINKING IT WAS THE BRAKE PADS BUT IT WASN'T. THE NOISE ONCE AGAIN SHOWED UP. ANOTHER ISSUE, THE AC GOES ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY WHILE ON THE ROAD.

I JUST NOTICED THAT ON MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE THERE IS A BUBBLE ON IT'S SIDE WALL. THE CAR LEASED NEW BACK IN JULY OF THIS YEAR. THE TIRES ARE THE KUMHO SOLUS KH25. I'VE ALSO NOTICED HERE ON THIS SITE, I SEEN A COMPLAINT FOR THE SAME THING. I'M HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON MONDAY TO SEE WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO TELL ME. AS FOR SPEED CONTROL. THIS CAR CANT GO ABOVE 55MPH - 60MPH WHILE ON HIGHWAY NORMAL CURVES WITHOUT THE REAR SWAYING WHILE RUN OVER DIVIDER LINE ON THE PAVEMENT. LESS SPEED WHEN IT RAINS. I'M REALLY HAVING DOUBTS ABOUT THIS CAR ONCE IT STARTS TO SNOW.

WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 30 IN LITTLE ROCK ARKANSAS GOING ABOUT 70 I PUT THE CAR IN CRUISE CONTROL AS WERE APPROACH A HILL THE CAR SHOT UP TO 6000 RPM AND WOULD NOT SHIFT, I HAD TO TAKE CRUISE CONTROL OFF AND USE MANUAL DRIVE. I THOUGHT IT WAS POSSIBLY JUST A FLUKE ACCIDENT BUT THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED AND EVENTUALLY WHEN I PUT MY CAR AND DRIVE IT WON'T GO IT TAKES A WHILE FOR IT TO TAKE OFF AND WHEN IT DOES TAKE OFF IT JERKS INTO GEAR .. I HAS BEEN RUNNING ROUGH AND FEELS LIKE IT MISSING.. THEN ON THE INTERSTATE 67 /167 I WAS TRYING TOP ACCELERATE AND THE CAR STALLED FOR A GOOD MOMENT, ENOUGH TO SCARE ME TO I HAD TO PULL OFF ABRUPTLY..

THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WENT BAD RIGHT AFTER 60000 OR 62000 TO BE CORRECT. I ALSO HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON THE NEXT WEEK, SO WE TOOK TOOK THE CAR BACK IN AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. THIS ALL MAKING NO SENSE TO ME AT ALL, THEY SAID THEY FOUND METAL PIECES IN THE OIL PAN.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was discovered that the plastic bushing inside the steering column was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed by the mechanic that there might have been a recall on the vehicle related to the failure. The mechanic referred him to the dealer. The dealer informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle, and he was then referred to the NHTSA.gov website. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

My cars lights (headlights, gage cluster lights, dash lights, radio screen light, etc..) and screen for my radio and back up camera, all turn off by themselves, for maybe 1 second or 2, while driving. This happens randomly, no warning, no special conditions, just out of nowhere, and for no reasons. Since I bought the car in September of 2020 (used, as is) it has done it now 7 or 8 times, with tonight being the most recent occurrence. I don't know how to have it checked or verified by a technician because there's no forewarning before it happens. It's completely random and unexpected. It's very scary, especially with my children in the car.

AFTER SHOPPING FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES, I WAS IN MY PARKED VEHICLE WITH MY SIBLING IN THE TARGET PARKING LOT WHERE THE CAR WAS ON BUT NOT RUNNING . I OPENED THE AUTOMATIC FELT COVER TO WHERE THE SUNROOF DOES NOT OPEN AS WELL ONLY THE FELT COVER WILL OPEN. I COMPLETELY STARTED MY CAR SO THAT IT'S NOW RUNNING AND THIS IS WHEN MY SUNROOF MADE A LOUD POPPING SOUND ALMOST LIKE A GUNSHOT AND STARTED OPENING UNPROVOKED THEN COMPLETELY SHATTERED OVER BOTH OF OUR HEADS. *TR

Additionally, the brakes were dragging. The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal again, the vehicle operated as needed. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the brake pads had shown premature wear and tear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the brake calipers, rotors, and brake pads were replaced; however, the failure recurred after 4,500 miles driven. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V651000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The vehicle was sputtering and running rough while driving at various speeds, and hesitated while accelerating. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose the failure. The dealer informed the contact that metal shavings were found in the oil pan during the oil change. The contact stated that the Oxygen sensors and catalytic converter were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was contacted and advised the contact to return the vehicle to the dealer. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who performed a tune-up on the vehicle. The contact stated that several days after the tune-up, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle hesitated and sounded as if the vehicle was going to stall. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the engine was losing pressure and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact stated that before the vehicle had the tune-up, the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact had not noticed any oil stains on the ground. The check engine light was occasionally illuminated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

Since purchasing my car in 2015, I've had to have the A/C knob replaced 3 times for it melting on the inside and disconnecting, being unable to control the fan. That seems extremely hazardous and ridiculous that nothing has been said about it before. I've searched many forums and it has been a common from problem for many people with this same car. Just so happened that someone who mentioned theirs was smoking inside of the car suggested we can actually report the issue, so I am submitting mine in hopes it's be noticed.

Blower motor stops working about every 1.5 years. It was initially reported as a blower motor recall and the dealer replaced it twice but it went out a 3rd time about 2.5 years ago. They searched for the problem after realizing they had replaced the blower motor twice but could not locate the defect, at which point they charged me over $300.00 for their efforts to locate the problem. They wanted to keep looking for the problem but I told them no, just put it back together that I wasn't going to pay them to search for their defect. I have since been told by someone who claimed to be a mechanic for Hyundai that it is a computer chip problem that requires them to pull a lot of things on the dash to replace the chip and it is not cheap. I have a mechanic that is trying to get the chip and install it for me but I won't know for certain that this is the problem until the chip is replaced. I have driven the car for about 2.5 years without heat or air conditioning but can't work when it rains because the windshield fogs up in the rain and I can't see. I also can't drive the car when I can't get the windshield cleared of ice. Now the engine is burning oil but there's no recall for that issue according to your website. The car now has 173,624 mile on it.

The vehicle also lost motive power. The contact had to depress the accelerator pedal several times before the vehicle would respond and drive as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle had also begun to consume an abnormal amount of engine oil. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was constantly flashing. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the catalytic convertor needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

I was on the highway and looked at my speedometer and the mph was at 0. The abs and the brake light warnings came on and I couldn't accelerate and hardly brake. I pulled to the shoulder immediately. Took a couple hundred feet to finally stop. It was a very scary moment thinking my brakes have gone. I put it in park waited a moment turned it off... waited about 5 mins and it turned over just wanted to get it home
