ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2019, I PURCHASED A NEW THE NEW 2019 DODGE DURANGO VIN I SUBMITTED. DRIVING OFF THE LOT, I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND THE DASHBOARD AND HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ON "AUTO." IT WAS DARK. I HAD TO MANUALLY SWITCH THE SELECTOR SWITCH TO THE "ON" POSITION AND THE HEADLIGHTS DID COME ON. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THE VEHICLE INDICATED ONE BAG TRIP. I JUST PICKED THE VEHICLE UP ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2019. I ALSO HAVE ENGINE KNOCK.
10/14/2019
HEADLIGHTS WOULD COME ON WHEN THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH IS IN THE OFF POSITION WHILE IN PARK AND WHILE IN MOTION, AND STAY ON; DURING NIGHT TIME DRIVING HEADLIGHTS WOULD INTERMITTENTLY GO OFF IN THE ON POSITION WHILE IN MOTION. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BY DEALER REPAIR PERSONNEL TO FIND A REMEDY WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. IT WAS LATER DISCOVERED THAT THE AFTERMARKET REMOTE START INSTALLED BY A THIRD PARTY WAS WIRED INCORRECTLY. THE DEALER INSTALLED A FACTORY REMOTE START AND THE ISSUE APPEARS TO BE RESOLVED.

THE TRANSMISSION SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE IT IS WINDING UP AND THEN SHIFTS HARD. THIS GENRALLY HAPPENS RIGHT AFTER I TAKE OFF. IT ALSO SOUNDS LIKE IT WINDS UP AT SPEED AND THEN DOESN'T SHIFT INTO OVERDRIVE, EVEN THOUGHT IT SHOWS THAT IT IS IS GEAR 8. THIS IS NOT A ONE TIME OCCURRENCE, IT HAPPENS EVERYDAY. THIS POSES A SAFETY ISSUE S THIS IS A POLICE PATROL VEHICLE AND HAS TO RUN AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED FROM TIME TO TIME. IF THE TRANSMISSION LOCKS UP AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED THIS COULD BE VERY CATASTROPHIC.

11/19/2019
My car has 7000 miles on it and the brake light is stuck on thanks to a faulty reading in the ABS system. This also causes the car to think someone is in the car because the brake pedal is being pressed. It is illegal to operate a car without the brake lights working properly not to mention unsafe. My car has been setting in the driveway for over 3 months and Chrysler is in no hurry to repair it. The ABS module part has a superseded part number so they obviously have addressed the faulty part. I paid a lot for a car that has become a driveway accessory. How long can they drag their feet? They are losing repeat customers.

ON JULY 2, 2020, I WAS DRIVING MY DODGE DURANGO UP AN ISOLATED STEEP MOUNTAIN ROAD IN THE SIERRA NEVADA AT ABOUT 20 MPH WHEN IT SUDDENLY STALLED ON A STEEP GRADE IN THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKES TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM ROLLING BACKWARDS. THERE WERE NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE CAR HAD BEEN OPERATING AT NORMAL TEMPERATURE. AFTER TRYING TO THE RESTART THE CAR, THE ENGINE AT FIRST BEGAN TO OPERATE, THEN ALMOST IMMEDIATELY HESITATED AND DIED. I TRIED AGAIN WITH THE SAME RESULTS, AND EVEN ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE GAS PEDAL TO NO AVAIL. AS SOMEONE WITH SOME PREVIOUS MECHANICAL EXPERIENCE, IT SEEMED TO ME THAT IT WAS A FUEL DELIVERY PROBLEM. THE CAR HAD NEARLY HALF A TANK OF GAS HOWEVER. I POPPED THE HOOD AND OBSERVED NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY THAT WOULD INDICATE ANY PROBLEMS. THERE WAS OIL IN THE CRANKCASE AND AMPLE COOLANT. MY WIFE AND I DECIDED TO WAIT AND LET THE ENGINE AND VEHICLE COOL DOWN SINCE IT WAS OVER 90 DEGREES OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES, I RESTARTED THE CAR WITHOUT PROBLEM AND CONTINUED ON MY WAY. THE CAR HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN IN AUTOMATIC MODE BUT HAD SHIFTED TO THE LOWER GEARS. I DECIDED TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN MANUAL MODE AND KEEP THE CAR IN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR DUE TO THE STEEP TERRAIN. WE HAD NO PROBLEMS THE REST OF THE WAY. WE WERE BEYOND CELL PHONE RANGE ON A VERY ISOLATED ROAD AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN A TOW, SO I AM VERY GRATEFUL THE CAR CONTINUED TO OPERATE AFTER OUR INITIAL PROBLEM. HOWEVER, WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS PROBLEM WILL OCCUR AGAIN OR WHETHER HAVING THE TRANSMISSION IN AUTOMATIVE MODE ON A STEEP GRADE PLAYED ANY ROLE.

AFTER DROPPING OFF MY OLDEST DAUGHTER AT PRESCHOOL, I DROVE FOR ROUGHLY 2.5 MILES AND PARKED THE CAR, I SUFFERED A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE TRUCK HAS A COMPLETELY ELECTRIC STEERING SYSTEM. THIS OCCURRED 10/31/2019. ON THIS DATE I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR DIAG. THEY CALLED 11/1/2019 AND STATED THAT IT NEEDED A NEW STEERING RACK. IT IS NOW 11/19/2019 AND THE PART IS STILL ON BACK ORDER. CHRYSLER KEEPS PUSHING THE DATE BACK. I STILL DO NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE BACK AND NOT DEFINITIVE DATE OF RETURN. IF THIS WOULD'VE HAPPENED WITH MY DAUGHTERS IN THE CAR WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IT WOULD'VE CAUSED A SERIOUS CRASH.
11/19/2019
WHILE VISITING MISSISSIPPI FROM INDIANA, IN JULY, I KEPT GETTING A "POWER STEERING UNAVAILABLE" "NEED SERVICE". I CALLED AND WAS GOING TO TAKE IT TO A SHOP THERE BUT THE MESSAGE WENT AWAY THE NEXT DAY. WE MADE IT BACK HOME TO INDIANA AND I IMMEDIATELY MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND DROPPED MY VEHICLE OFF. THEY CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND SAID THE MESSAGE NEVER CAME UP FOR THEM, SO THEY RESET THE SYSTEM TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING. THEY SAID THE PART IS VERY EXPENSIVE SO IF THE ISSUE ISN'T GOING ON WHILE THEY HAVE THE VEHICLE THEN THEY CAN'T JUST REPLACE IT. FAST FORWARD TO TODAY. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HWY WITH 2 OF MY CHILDREN THE MESSAGE POPS UP AGAIN AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT. VERY SCARY. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO GET US HOME SAFE BUT YURNING THE WHEEL WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. I PLAN TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP IN THE MORNING, BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND VERY DANGEROUS.

On May 7, 2021, I was informed by Champion Dodge in Indianapolis, Indiana that a water intrusion point was discovered on my new Dodge Durango. The service department determined that the antenna had a faulty antenna gasket causing water to get into the vehicle through the antenna since I purchased it in September 2019. To date, my vehicle has been in the shop for about 70 days, always returned to me as "unable to duplicate" after the vehicle accelerating by itself, the LED panel malfunctioning repeatedly, the highlights coming on by themselves, and the instrument panel going out multiple times and the backup camera not engaging just to name a few problems I've had. All this Dodge dealer did with this major discovery was to replace the antenna and return the vehicle to me as safe. I feel this situation is not safe as water has been getting into the electrical car components of my vehicle since 2019, and this cannot be a safe situation but Doge refuses to buy back this vehicle as a Lemon or even with this new information they still refuse. My Dodge has experienced electrical problems from day one of my purchase of this vehicle. I have had ongoing safety issues with this vehicle all to do with electrical problems. I think this is a very unsafe situation for this vehicle to be on the road.
5/23/2021
I bought this vehicle in Sept 2019 drove off the lot with it brand new and the headlights and whole dash lights went out when I hit a bump. For the next two years, the car kept having electrical problems when it rained or the vehicle was washed but the Virginia dealership could never duplicate the problem. I moved to Indiana where these problems continued. Finally, an Indianapolis dealer discovered my antenna gasket was bad and water had been leaking in from it running to the dash causing all the electrical issues. This was found in 2021. Dodge has recently bought my vehicle back as a lemon but in the paperwork only said it had radio problems. This is not true. It had much more and I'm guessing all the vehicles made with mine may also have a bad/faulty antenna gasket I doubt Dodge did a recall on.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

From my understanding, I went to several different mechanics who all said the same thing. 2019 and maybe older years, the way the truck was made, the coolant hose runs all the way from the resovoir to the back of the truck which is causing a metal pipe and the coolant hose to touch and when the metal pipe gets hot, itâs eating at the hose cause a significant leakage under the truck. And the hose is behind the vent under the truck which means pieces would need to get removed from the truck in order to get to the hose.

The contact owns a 2019 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, an unknown fluid was seen leaking from the vehicle and running down the driveway. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic that found the failure as a factory install clamp that was placed too close to a tube causing a hole. The vehicle was not repaired as the vehicle was awaiting a tow to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle be taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The failure mileage was 62,180.

I have spent about an hour total on 2 phone calls to only be told there is nothing they can do about it.This is clearly a manufacturing defect and a common problem with Dodge Durango's, bcause I see too many with the same problem that I have and its always the center of the lift gate and the right side tail light.
