WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL A CAR APPROX 1000 FEET AHEAD OF ME WAS SLOWING DOWN TO TURN RIGHT WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL TURNING BUT COMPLETELY OUT OF THE INTERSECTION THE AUTOMATIC BRAKES CAME ON AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CAR THAT TURNED RIGHT WAS DOWN THE STREET IT HAD TURNED ON COMPLETELY OUT OF SENSOR RANGE AND THE AUTOMATIC BRAKES WOULD NOT LET OFF, WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE IT GOT STUCK IN GEAR BUT WOULD NOT BUDGE. LIKE WHEN YOU DONT SHIFT A GEAR FOR TOO LONG IN A STICK SHIFT CAR. FINALLY THE BRAKES LET OFF AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BUT FURTHER DOWN THE SAME HILL THE AUTOMATIC BRAKES DID THE SAME THING AGAIN WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO CHANGE LANES, THERE WAS NOT A SINGLE CAR INFRONT OF ME AT THIS POINT AND NO REASON FOR THE AUTOMATIC BRAKES TO DO THIS. BOTH INCIDENTS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE REAR ENDED.

9/13/2018

THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGES AND THE CAR TAKES OFF FROM A DEAD STAND STILL WHEN RESUME BUTTON IS BUMPED. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING CRUISE CONTROL SHOULD NOT ENGAGE FROM A STANDSTILL OR SLOW SPEED. I DISCOVERED THIS AFTER THE DEALER SERVICED THE CAR AND THE TECH HAD TURNED ON THE CRUISE THE RESUME BUTTON PERTRUDES OUT FROM THE STEARING WHEEL AND AS I WAS COASTING THROUGH A TURN ON THE DEALERS LOT THE CAR LAUNCHED FORWARD I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDDLE BUT IT CONTINUED TO EXCEL. I TOOK THE CAR RIGHT BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD I MUST HAVE BUMPED THE 'RESUME' BUTTON WHILE TURNING AND THATS WHAT CAUSED IT TO UNEXPECTEDLY EXCEL. I ASKED, IT ENGAGES AT A VIRTUAL 4-5 MPH CRAWL? EVEN WHEN NO PREVIOUS SPEED HAS BEEN ENTERED SINCE THE CAR WAS STARTED? THE SERVICE WRITER STOPPED THE CAR, TOOK HIS FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND HE DEMONSTRATED HOW I MUST HAVE BUMPED THE RESUME AS I WAS TURNING. HE BUMPED THE RESUME AND THE CAR LAUNCHED OFF ON ITS OWN FROM A COMPLETE STANDSTILL. HE SAID IT WAS A NORMAL ACURA TRAIT BUT SHOULDNT EXCEED 25-30 MPH. HE SAID HE HAD A SUBARA THAT DOES THE SAME THING. HE SAID CUSTOMERS FREQUENTLY COMPLAIN ABOUT IT BEING A SAFETY HAZARD AND HE SUGGESTED WE JUST BE SURE THE CRUISE MASTER CONTROL IS TURNED OFF EVERY TIME WE START THE CAR. I TRIED THIS WITH ALL MY OTHER VEHICLES AND NONE OF THEM EVEN ENGAGED CRUISE UNDER 25 MPH. THIS IS IN MY OPINION A VERY SERIOUS UNEXPECTED EXCELLING PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED

Continued issues with electrical systems where the car alarm will go off intermittently, and vehicle will not lock unless manually locking. Dealership stated smart control unit needs to also be replaced at my cost. part number for control unit #38320 was issued by honda motor company service bulletin 21-055 for their honda ridgeline. Acura Dealer will not honor since part number does not specify acura. Part issued in Service bulletin is 38320-T6Z-A11 (honda ridgeline) part needed to be replaced by acura is 38320-TRX-A11. Other service bulletins related to original issues: 20-015, 19-005, 23-008, and 24-022 and safety recall report 23V-751. PURCHASED ACURA MDX IN JANUARY OF 2018 SO IT IS NOW 3 MONTHS. I BELIEVE THERE IS SOMETHING SIGNIFICANTLY WRONG WITH ITS AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HILL ON A RESIDENTAL, FAST PACED ROAD, WITH A GUARDRAIL TO MY RIGHT SIDE AND ANOTHER CAR PASSING ME ON THE LEFT SIDE. WE BOTH WE TRAVELING AT THE SPEED LIMIT OF 40 MILES PER HOUR WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR'S BRAKES WENT ON, CAUSING ME TO SWERVE INTO THE GUARDRAIL. FROM THERE, I WAS THROWN INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC CAUSING A COLLISON. I BELIEVE THE SYSTEM BECAME CONFUSED AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKES WHEN IT DETECTED THE OTHER VEHICLE ACCELERATING TOWARDS ME.

My vehicle has similar behaviors to the most recent investigation that is happening with the investigation of the Honda Accord and CRV noted in this article: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/inv/2022/INOA-PE22003-5540.PDF. On a handful of times while driving on the freeway, my car has unexpectedly decelerated when passing another vehicle, or on a curve the adaptive cruise control slows the vehicle down. On one occasion, the car suddenly applied the brakes and slowed us down at least 10mph. In any of these instances, I have not had anyone following, but could have caused issues if there was.

2/25/2022

2018 purchased a little more than a month ago as a certified used Acura. Twice now we have been overridden by the automatic forward collision detecting something in front when NOTHING was there. Once on the freeway went from 70mph to 15 quickly and almost got rear ended. Just now on city street car stopped in the middle of intersection while turning left and overrides driver pressing gas pedal in both cases. Makes us scared to drive suv further and we have turned off that feature to see if it still happens.

THE 2018 ACURA MDX HAS WINDSHIELD DISTORTIONS AFFECTING VISIBILITY AND CAN LEAD TO DIZZINESS RESULTING FROM VISUAL VERTIGO. IMAGES SEEN THROUGH THE OUTER EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD ARE DISTORTED. STRAIGHT LINES (ROAD BARRIERS, LINES ON THE STREET, FENCES, CURBS, ETC) APPEAR BENT/CURVED. OBJECTS ALSO QUICKLY MAGNIFY AND THEN REVERT TO NORMAL SIZE CAUSING BLURRYINESS AS WELL AS AFFECTING THE ABILITY TO DETERMINE ACCURACY OF OBJECT PLACEMENT AROUND YOU WHEN DRIVING. THE WINDSHIELD IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD PUTTING DRIVERS AT RISK FOR ACCIDENTS. AFTER JUST DRIVING IT JUST A FEW MILES, I BEGAN TO NOTICE DIZZINESS AND RESULTING NAUSEA FROM OBJECT DISTORTIONS. I ATTEMPTED TO NOT LOOK OUT THAT PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD AND FOCUSED LOOKING STRAIGHT WERE OBJECTS WERE CLEAR AND ACCURATE TO SIZE/SHAPE. BUT FOR SAFETY REASONS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO NEGLECT A LARGE PORTION OF THE VISUAL FIELD WHEN OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE.

12/8/2017

THE FRONT WINDSHIELD IS DISTORTED ON THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE. THE DISTORTION MAKES IT HARD TO SEE THINGS CLEARLY AND MAKES ME FEEL DIZZY WHEN DRIVING. IT'S LIKE LOOKING THROUGH AN HOURGLASS. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE HAD DIFFICULTY PARKING BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I ALMOST HIT A CAR IN A PARKING LOT BECAUSE OF IT.

My 2018 Acura MDX seat comes out of place while driving. I am concerned it may completely disengage from the base and prevent me from stopping or accelerating. It has become increasingly worse since I brought this problem to the dealer. There IS a recall on 2018 Acura MDX for the Seat Base failure due to rivets becoming damaged after manufacture installation. My 2018's VIN number however is not part of this recall even though the problem with the rivets becoming damaged causing my seat to slip out of place and move while driving. This was confirmed by the dealer through a diagnostic test I paid to confirm it. My drivers seat is unstable and "slips" out of place while accelerating and braking and this happens constantly while driving. I complained about this to the dealer AND called Honda America. The dealer confirmed that the seat base rivets are in fact damaged causing the seat to move while accelerating or braking. I asked why my car is not part of the known recall with Honda America even though the problem is the same safety issue that Honda recalled other 2018 Acura MDX'S. They just told me I can check back to see a recall may be issued. It will cost me over 2000.00 to repair. This is a safety issue Honda America should stand behind because clearly this 2018 Acura MDX slipped by the inspection and the seat is failing.

5/22/2023

Seat Base rivets are damaged and confirmed by dealer upon inspection. There IS a recall on this problem for 2018 Acura MDX but my 2018 Acura MDX vin doesn't show to be part of the recall even though the problem with the seat base rivets failing due to improper installation, are the same problem confirmed by the dealer. I was told it was safe to drive by dealer. However the seat constantly clicks out of place when braking and accelerating

1.) I have had repeated, on-going issues with the fuel propulsion system since the day I bought the car. When I step on the accelerator it randomly (lately more constant than random) does not respond, then it will shoot me out into traffic. For example when I am entering the highway from an onramp, I see my opportunity to merge into traffic and I step on the gas - nothing - no response, then it suddenly accelerates and shoots me into oncoming traffic. This is SO BAD that I am afraid to drive the vehicle. It is DEADLY. I have reported the issue every time I have had the car serviced (always dealer serviced, from same dealer where I bought it.) 2.) The vehicle will randomly decide that I am going to hit a car in another lane, and will forcefully apply the brakes (when there is no issue, no danger, no possible way I am going to even be close to hitting another car) causing the cars behind me to come extremely close to rear-ending me! Or the car will decide I am going off the road when I am taking a soft curve, and it will sound a warning and try to turn the wheel. 3.) The display panel will go black for no reason. I then cannot use the navigation screen. It will randomly return after a few hours or after a day or two. 4.) The camera/display will get stuck on the reverse camera causing a visual disconnect as I drive forward, but can only see what is in reverse. (like seasickness). No idea what causes it or how to fix it. Eventually it corrects itself after a few hours/day+. 5.) Car will occasionally make a strange squealing noise after it has been turned off - no idea what that is, or what causes it. As a salesperson who spends many, many hours in her car, this vehicle has become a constant danger to both my livelihood and my life. I am afraid to drive it and I will not let family members drive it as I am afraid for their lives due to the issues stated above.

TAKATA RECALL: CORRECTION FOR COMPLAINT #11164408. REAR VIEW CAMERA REMAINS IN THE REVERSE POSITION WHEN I SHIFT FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. CONSEQUENTLY, I AM DRIVING WITH A VIEW OF THE ROAD BEHIND ME. THIS HAS HAPPEN THREE TIMES. I REPORTED THIS TO ACURA OF PEORA, AZ. THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR A DAY BUT DIDN'T RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THEY WERE CONTACTING ACURA HEADQUARTERS AND WOULD GET BACK TO ME BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T REPLACE A $3000 SYSTEM WITHOUT APPROVAL FROM ACURA HEADQUARTERS.

This is the exact problem I am experiencing: https://carbuzz.com/news/some-acura-rdx-and-mdx-owners-have-a-troubling-problem https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2020/acura-mdx-and-rdx-acceleration-problems-lawsuit.shtml https://www.wirtzlaw.com/2020/04/19/defects-in-2016-2017-2018-2019-and-2020-acura-mdx-and-rdx-cause-acceleration-problems-are-subject-to-california-lemon-laws/#:~:text=Model%20years%202016%2C%202017%2C%202018%2C%202019%2C%20and%202020,neutral%2C%20and%20engines%20that%20stall. Transmission slip: sudden hesitation on acceleration, sudden deceleration then acceleration on low speed, 'hiccup' on transmission shifting The issue happened since day one I leased the car. At the first oil change service, I reported to the dealership. The dealer performed transmission check and told me everything was 'normal'. However the issue has become persistent and more obvious - it now happens every time I drive. I now feel the sudden acceleration, and decelerationI makes it very dangerous to drive.

Acura & the service center ripped me . The issue in the car started on aroud start of septmber 2022 . They did some front glass replacement which is not under warranty . When I purchased the car from Acura it was an Acura certified car and had a 7 year warranty on it.But your service center is saying it is not under warranty . The issue caused the leak is not from any of my mistakes , I only fixed the car at the same service center which also concerns me about Acura brand reliability . The Carpet was covered under my insurance and the 30 days I didn't get a loaner car from your dealership . I need to have a big fight with your dealer to get this issue resolved and then I got one . This 30 days car I spent nearly 400$ with insurance to have a car . I agree the supply chain issue caused a 5 months delay for the carpet . I raised the concern in December that the car is ideal for the service center and has any issues .Please see the rust happen under the seat rails . This is concerning me .I am not sure how much rust is under the carpet now . I spent 1076.76 on the car for this issue but the rust in the bottom of the car concerns me a lot . Also in the bill they say it vacuumed all the interior but 3 rows was a mess with old carpet . I am not expecting this experience from a premium brand service . Added the ticket with Acura and they assure they will look with the service and nothing happened . Now my insurance went up . I am concern on the resale value of my car .

SEAT BELTS

On September 30th I got in my car and my drivers seatbelt would not pull out. It was completely stuck. There was no accident or incident, it just fully stopped working and would not pull out to buckle. It was taken apart my a family mechanic and he confirmed a new part of was needed. We then took it to the dealership and they confirmed a new part was needed. This makes my cart illegal to use. A seatbelt is the most basic, fundamental piece of safety equipment needed. My car is not safe to drive. Driving it puts myself at risk everyday day. This could easily result in death. The dealer told us that the part is indefinitely backordered with no ETA. They said they had two other orders for a drivers seatbelt that they were waiting on that they haven't gotten, one of them placed in July. This is 3 people at one dealership that cannot get a drivers seatbelt. I escalated this to Honda/Acura. It took over 20 emails and calls and 10+ social media posts for someone to call me back. I was told I would be moved to a critical back order part and skip the line. It would make me 9th in line, meaning there are many more than that waiting on the part given you don't get moved to a critical back order part unless you continue to call, email and blast them. I was told it could take a year for me to get a new seatbelt as they are having production issues (yet they are making new cars with seatbelts without a problem). They are not prioritizing getting this most basic fault feature replaced and based on the amount of people at one dealer waiting for this part and the "hundreds" as she told me also waiting for this part this should be prioritized and it should be recalled. They are also not offering anytype of safe loaner car for those with the issue to drive even though that are to blame for the production issue.

back-up camera is useless at night posing a hazard to anyone behind the vehicle. Honda knows how to fix the problem as witnessed by my 2018 Odyssey which is excellent. The problem has spanned over many years of the MDX before 2016 and after 2019. Having a working backup camera is paramount for any SUV because of the limited visability. Acura Service could not remove the problem

Acura mailed me details about NHTSA Recall 23V-858 in February 2024. However, the letter stated that parts won't be available until over half a year later in the fall of 2024. While I understand that it takes time to develop and produce parts, a half a year wait seems like an unusually long time to have to wait while my vehicle is considered unsafe by NHTSA. This makes it seem like Acura is prioritizing producing parts for profit over safety.

The contact owns a 2018 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled, with several unknown warning lights and the traction control warning light illuminated. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the oil pressure switch. The oil pressure switch was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 - 75 MPH, the vehicle unintentionally decelerated to 40 - 45 MPH. The accelerator pedal was pumped until the vehicle accelerated with a crunching sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the remote start failed to operate as designed occasionally. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic and was diagnosed with transmission failure; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately 7 to 8 times due to the failure. The contact stated that the fuel pump was replaced; however, the failure persisted, and the transmission had experienced total failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), and the vehicle had exceeded the mileage for the transmission repair under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
