2024 Toyota RAV4 Owner Complaints

The drivers side mirror is distorted like if you have on a pair of glasses that are stronger than they actually are. It makes my eyes go cross-eyed everytime I look into that mirror & it's going to cause me to get into an accident if it's not addressed. I already went to the dealership & the service consultant said he could see what I was talking about but the service technician said he saw nothing wrong with it. I am also have an issue with the alignment. It was off when I brought it in for my inspection sticker & had them look at it & they said it was slightly off so they adjusted it but here it is 3 days later & my alignment is off once again. I contacted the person that sold me the car & a service manager is suppose to be getting in touch with me. That's also what they said last week when I first mentioned the issues to them but I never got a phone call. So we shall see.

1 - there is no hatch release button on the remote or inside the vehicle 2 - there is no tune knob on the radio. Dangerous when using the touch screen to change channels while driving 3 - the door handles are close to the door hinges. Extremely hard to carefully open and also have to pull very hard to close doors. There is no grip in the door armrests. 4 - gearshift should be on the left side of console, not the right 5 - no ability to customize what you want displayed on the touchscreen, ie mpg, direction, temperature, date, time, channel, etc. It’s all or nothing. 6 - trip info doesn’t display current mpg compared to trip mpg 7 - passenger seat has pocket on back, but driver’s seat does not

After driving the vehicle in the rain, pulled into work and the car died. Would not restart, it popped up with power steering low error code. After leaving work car started right up and drove normal. Searching online and a lot of other people are having same issue, causing there cars to die and not restart when they are in traffic. Most people reporting the same issue have had their cars die on them while on the highway in stop and go traffic, which could lead to a wreck. I don’t want this to happen to me or anyone else as I travel a lot with my two small children in the vehicle. Other items to note, almost all the people I found online with same issue have said that it was also raining, with their windshield wipers on and the start stop function turned on. Thank you for looking into this for me and other customers.

On the [XXX] I purchased a TOYOTA RAV4 XLE AWB I VIN: [XXX] from Brampton East Toyota, 2 Maritime Ontario Blvd, Brampton, ON L6S 0C2 Canada. Very unfortunately, the vehicle is behaving dangerous to our lives because I've only had it for about 8 days and 300 KM on it on [XXX], I drove about 50 km into the city, while driving the vehicle seemed to start losing power and bucking. Several error symbols flashed including the engine light. I managed to pull mostly off the road but not all the way off. My rear was still on the road. The car was unresponsive. I waited a few seconds then tried to turn off and restart the car. The message "Steering Power Low" came on as well as several warning lights. I turned the car off totally and waited. I tried restarting again. Same bucking and error message. I turned the car off. and reported the issue to Brampton east toyota, they perform some checks and found battery issue and ask me to report if comes again I was promised this issue would not come again, but second time on Friday [XXX] evening this happened again and the car lost all power and slightly hit a road side wall, thanks to the the [XXX] the car was not in speed or on a express highway otherwise Toyota would found 5 dead bodies including a 5 year old child in car. Now with the "Steering Power Low" inow steering is not getting automatically back to the normal position I have to roll it back to normal and behaving really strange and since its in garage and Also The car is driving in the parking mode ON and the reverse camera is also displaying. I really don't feel safe to take the car out on the road, I don't want others to have problem because of my car I have showed all the videos and I would appreciate it if you could organise it before you find us with injuries on a highway or dead. and We look forward to an immediate action settling this matter amicably. I ignored it, as I wanted to quickly check something outside. I started to walk away and someone yelled 'car rolling'. I ran back, couldn't block the heavy car, opened the door and jammed on the foot brakes. Then I noticed the car was still in Drive. With no engine-transmission torque against the wheels. The car is proximity-keyed, but does not require the transmission to be in the Park position, to turn the engine off. This has happened twice in my driveway as well. In retrospect I'm lucky not to have been struck or run over by the car or clipped by the door. -------- Yes I 'should' have put it in park. But every regularly keyed vehicle I have driven won't let me remove the key until it is in Park, and as I said this has happened when I was doing other things in the car in my driveway. Going proximity keyless has dropped the transmission interlock requirement. This is a recipe for disaster.

None of the doors has puddle/ courtesy lights which can cause hazard situation when doors need to open in dark environment. Those lights when available alerts oncoming vehicles pedestrians or cyclists. Oncoming vehicles cyclists at danger of poor visibility if the doors open. There use to be lights on all 4 doors few years ago on any motor vehicle. Then certain manufacturers made them available only on front doors. Now they are all gone from all doors at least in the car I have. In my opinion this should be a safety requirement. Kindly evaluate and see if what I mention make sense. It was a simple technology which may have prevent certain hazardous situation.

Moon roof spontaneously shattered while driving. No impact from any object caused this, no other vehicles around and vehicle was only at 5 MPH at time of shattering. It’s as if the glass just shattered outwards from inside the cabin of the vehicle. Showered driver with glass and could have caused injury especially if glass fell into eyes.

Car was left inside garage for about 20-24 hrs. Car was locked and turned off with no one in it. Upon going to use the vehicle after this amount of time had passed, it was found the passenger side dash airbag had deployed at some point in time since last parked.

I was pulling into a parking spot in a parking garage. My foot was off the accretor ready to brake and then the car self accelerated and hit the cement wall. The red brake light came on and I slammed on the brake but the damage was done. The front bumper was cracked on the left side and dented on the right side. There whole front end was scraped and scratched. The collision sensor is damaged

On 3 separate occasions, when pulling out into traffic, the car wrongly senses oncoming traffic as being too close and slams on the brakes once you're out in a lane, preventing acceleration and leaving you stuck and at risk of being hit from oncoming traffic.

Two week old 2024 RAV4 hybrid with less than 300 miles. In my driveway I put car in drive and it suddenly and aggressively accelerated. It would not stop or slow despite my attempts to brake, trying to avoid collision all I could do was steer to avoid impact. Finally grazed a tree trunk, car then rolled onto passenger side and came to rest against the bush by my front door. Spouse and I required extrication by Fire Dept requiring jaws of life and removal of windshield. Unsure of long-term injuries Been driving many years and never had an accident with vehicle damage Car was totaled

This was a rental car. The center rear seat harness is locked so it cannot be used. Pulling lightly, or with any degree of resistance, will not allow the shoulder strap to be loosed so it can be used. As a result a passenger cannot be seated in the center of the rear bench seat. Also, the cover assembly for the rear cargo area was installed incorrectly so it cannot be pulled out and secured to the slots. It appears this was a dealership prep mistake.

I have driven 20 years in USA, where I had observed a debris (dirt/ rock) from road hitting the wind shield and have never had damaged by car wind shield. My new TOYOTA RAV4 xe, wind shield cracked by UN-noticeable debris hitting it. Wind Shield quality has been compromised by TOYOTA. It is so thin and week that it gave way. I lost confidence in Toyota and feel nervous as similar damage may happen in future also. How can you ensure that they recall and install better wind shield. Dealers sell Warranty for the same when we buy new cars, so that Financial impact is taken care by additional 3-4 K. $ warranty sale. But what about Passenger in front if the windshield breaks and cause face / eye injury. The wind shield of RAV4 is too thin for it large area (size). It may be OK for windows and rear, but not OK for front. Do they test the impact test on Wind shield (1/2 cm stone or ice (hail) hitting the wind shield from their vendors? Toyota is not considering this in Manufacturing Warranty. Relying on Toyota's quality, i denied Dealer's warranty, as I am a safe driver (no incidence in my 40 years of driving. Tire size 225/65R17 On [XXX] the front tire on the passenger side blew out on [XXX] just west of the exit to [XXX] as I was driving from Warren MI to Horseheads NY. I was able to safely steer off the highway to the shoulder. A man stopped to help, he put the donut on the car and put the blown out tire in the cargo space. I have the tire in my garage. I drove off the highway a few miles to the exit for Hornell NY and called Williams Toyota in Elmira NY, they had a replacement tire in stock but couldn’t fit me into their service schedule until July 15, 2025. I had to extend my stay in Horseheads by 2 nights so in addition to the cost of mounting and balancing the new tire I had to pay for 2 extra nights at the hotel where I was staying. I bought my RAV4 from Golling Toyota in Warren MI in February of 2024, it had 9843 miles on it, the tire was original equipment, and I have had the tires rotated as required by the maintenance schedule. Vehicle hood vibrates under both idle and driving speeds. At highway speeds or bumpy roads the vibration / flexing of the hood metal causes sun and light glare (like a strobe light effect) causing visual disturbances making it hard to stay focused on the road. There is no seal above the headlights which allows additional air under the hood - the faster the speed and / or windy conditions , the more the hood flexes and causes reflection to the drivers eyes. The easiest explanation is if the hood safety latch is engaged and you see the mood moving up and down prompting you to stall and see if the hood is loose.

I was heading south on I-495 (Massachusetts) in right lane at just under 65 mph. I had just passed an entrance ramp and overpass. A car was entering I495 on my right and coming up to speed. The car entered my lane from his entrance ramp to the right most lane in front of me. The car was about 20 feet in front of me. The entering car's speed was was greater than mine. When the second the car left the entrance ramp and pulled into my lane about 20-30 feet in front of me, my brakes slammed on, causing me and my passenger to lurch forward. My seat belts protected me and my passenger from harm, but it scared the **** out of us. This kind of nonsense of so-called "safety features" has to stop. Its bad enough that I have to put up with a car that stalls out when the car stops, even for a second, but what happened above is unacceptable as a "safety feature." I could have easily reacted by jerking the steering wheel to the right and gone off the road at full speed, fast enough to roll the car causing considerable harm to life.

Front camera quit working and it costs 2000 to replace which is absolutely ridiculous for a 2024 car. It should not have went out in a year and a half. It causes all the safety things on the car to not work properly.

- Passenger side rear tire failed - Tire is at dealer and available for inspection - Extremely dangerous situation, tire failed on a section of interstate highway under construction. Only 2 lanes available and they were narrower than normal width. Part of the shoulder was converted to driving lane so almost no shoulder to pull off on. The incident happened on a Sunday afternoon and interstate was extremely busy with weekend traffic. My wife was extremely lucky not to be involved in a serious accident. - Tire has not been inspected by anyone other than the car dealer - If the tire pressure warning light came on it wasn't noticed. There were no symptoms or warnings prior to the failure.

While I'm driving 2024 RAV4 hybrid, driver side door suddenly got opened (it was looselu hanging itself without fully being opened so I immediately grabbed it). As the vehicle was in driving, all doors were locked, and yet the driver side door suddenly got unlocked, and I had to stopped the car. I was lucked I was not on freeway. This could have been a huge accident if it got fully opened. I tried to call Toyota to report this but as this was around 6:05pm, there were closed. Also, Toyota doesn't make it easy to report issues.

I noticed at 3 thousand miles my abs light would come on and the abs would kick in and hear a grinding noise when braking over a slight dip in the road and entering a parking lot (breaking on incline slope or decline slope. I brought it into the Toyota dealership and they said they looked at everything (only 5 minutes) and nothing was wrong with brakes. The abs kicking in while braking on dry pavement has never gone away. At about 28,000 miles, i started to hear a brake squeaking noise coming from the front drivers side tire while braking at slow speeds, and when backing up. It came and went and now it is consistent and does it all the time and also squeaking when not breaking and turning to the right. I had a mechanic remove my tire and he said the bolt to the brake caliper is loose and the caliper itself is loose and that the brake pads are fine. I am now seeing there is a safety recall for this exact complaint for my exact car, Toyota rav4 hybrid 2024 , however, when checking if my vechile is part of the recall, by entering my VIN #, it says my vehicle is not part of this recall. This needs to be addressed and fixed by Toyota as this is a manufacturing defect. A caliper bolt should not come loose on its own if properly installed.

The display panel keeps going blank. I called the dealer months ago to notify them and was told they have not been notified of ANY recalls!!! I called two weeks ago to be told there IS a recall but nothing is available to correct this issue! The backup camera is useless at times. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!!! In addition, I drive for a living and my car is used for work solely for my business. I cannot access the GPS feature. I purchased this RAV4 solely for my business. When will this issue be corrected? Disappointed consumer!
