MY CAR IS 2 WEEKS OLD. I USED THE DEFROSTER ON SATURDAY NIGHT AND ON SUNDAY MORNING THERE WAS A CRACK ON MY WINDSHIELD FROM THE BOTTOM CENTER. UP AND TO THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. I DO NOT HEAR A STONE HIT MY WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING. SUBARU SAID IT WAS A STONE AND IS CHARGING ME OVER $700.00 TO REPLACE IT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR MANY YEARS AND HAVE NEVER GOTTEN A CRACK LIKE THIS. I BELIEVE IT IS A FAULTY WINDSHIELD THAT CRACKED WITH THE CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE.
11/7/2018
THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN ONE MONTH OLD AND IT WAS FOUND ONE MORNING WITH AN 8 INCH CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS NO IMPACT MADE ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK IS COMING FROM THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER AND GOES TOWARDS THE CENTER.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 SUBARU LEGACY. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED ON ITS OWN TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL WITH NO ISSUE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL MADE A SHARP LEFT TURN AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON BOTH OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PUTNAM SUBARU (LOCATED AT 85 CALIFORNIA DR, BURLINGAME, CA 94010, (888) 697-0962), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND MULTIPLE UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,400.

DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY AT A SPEED LESS THAT 50MPH WHEN MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED UNEXPECTEDLY AND SEEMING FROM NOTHING BEING FLUNG TOWARD THE VEHICLE OR DROPPING FROM THE SKY.

THE WINDSHIELD HAD A CRACK ON THE LEFT BOTTOM CORNER OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE BUT NO EXPLAINED REASON. THERE WAS NO AUDIBLE SOUND THAT LED TO THE CRACK. I HAD TO PAY $500 TO GET THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED AND THE EYESIGHT CALIBRATED. NOTICED THE CRACKED WINDSHIELD WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT HOME.

I TOOK MY SUBARU LEGACY TO THE LITTLE ROCK ARKANSAS SUBARU DEALERSHIP TO SERVICE A RECALL ON MY FUEL TANK. WHILE THERE THE SERVICE MANAGER REFUSED TO REPLACE PARTS LISTED ON THE TSB. WHEN I CONTACTED SUBARU THEY STATED A NEW TSB WAS ISSUED THE DAY BEFORE MY RECALL WAS COMPLETED NOT REQUIRING THOSE STEPS, THAT THE UPDATED TSB WOULD NOT BE PUBLIC, WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE NEW TSB AND THAT THEY WERE CLOSING MY COMPLAINT.

I've had this occur two times. Other vehicles pulled out in front of me, and the Eyesight technology applied the brakes very, very hard. There was sufficient room between me and the vehicles that pulled out in front of me, so the very, very hard braking wasn't necessary. I would have just taken my foot of the gas peddle, and would have been fine. The problem is when the vehicle itself applies the brakes very, very hard the car behind you almost runs you over because visually there's no reason to be applying the brakes so hard.

Touch screen driver information system has random display and audible warnings. Audio and navigation display cannot be controlled and does random radio channels and map displays. The screen developed bubbles under the front panel that appears to activate the touch sensor for the display. This condition is very distracting to the driver and might cause unsafe vehicle operation. The display changing and beeping during driving causes an unsafe situation. It also impacts the ability to use and see the rear view camera as the display is distorted due to the delamination/bubbles. This problem was identified by many Subaru Legacy and Outback owners in 2018 which led to a recall and warranty extension for repairs. The radio/nav display is manufactured by Harmon. It was widely reported in 2019 and the problem persists. Subaru contends that the display bubbles are caused by liquid contamination of the display, but this has not occurred in our vehicle, and dealers will not accept responsibility for the defective displays.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING A 2019 SUBARU LEGACY, I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN SUDDENLY, FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THE SPEED OF MY VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER MY CONTROL. I WAS IN A PANIC FOR MY SAFETY AND LIFE! AFTER A FEW SECONDS OF THIS LOSS IN SPEED CONTROL, I EITHER APPLIED MY BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR (I AM NOT SURE WHICH) AND I REGAINED CONTROL OF MY CAR'S SPEED. A FEW MINUTES LATER, I NOTICED A NUMBER OF ICONS ON MY SCREEN THAT WERE STRANGE TO ME AT THE TIME. READING THE OWNER'S MANUAL DAYS LATER, I LEARNED THAT THE ICONS REPRESENTED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS IN EFFECT. THERE ARE MANY BUTTONS CLOSE TO THE STEERING WHEEL. I MUST HAVE INADVERTENTLY PRESSED THE BUTTON TO ACTIVATE CRUISE CONTROL. THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN BY ACCIDENT BECAUSE THESE CONTROLS ARE SO CLOSE TO THE STEERING WHEEL. EVEN THOUGH I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, I COULD STILL ACCIDENTALLY PRESS THE BUTTON AGAIN AND POTENTIALLY COULD CAUSE GREAT INJURY OR EVEN DEATH! I WANT THIS FAULT CORRECTED ON MY VEHICLE BEFORE I OR SOMEONE ELSE GETS HURT! *TR *JS

Vehicle was using the self driving feature of the Subaru Eyesight system. With the system engaged, the vehicle is supposed to accelerate and apply brakes accordingly as to keep a distance from the vehicle in front. Today, that system failed. The vehicle, with the Eyesight system engaged, accelerated right into the vehicle in front. There was no warning. The vehicle will be go for repair on 12/5/23. I have used the Eyesight system since purchasing the vehicle in 2019 with no issues, except for today. Luckily, I was driving at a very low speed but this safety concern can cause catastrophic injuries if it is not fixed.

STEERING

WHAT WE NOTICE IS A CHANGE IN RESPONSE OF THE STEERING IN SOME SITUATIONS. COMING 'OFF-CENTER' THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANGE IN STEERING FEEL AND RESPONSE ' ALMOST AS IF IT HAS A DEAD SPOT 'ON-CENTER'. ADDITIONALLY, I HAVE NOTED A CHANGE IN RESPONSE AT HIGHWAY SPEED ENTERING AND EXITING CURVES. PARTICULARLY, THE STEERING HAS A NICE 'WEIGHTED' FEEL ENTERING AND MAINTAINING THROUGH THE CORNER, BUT JUST AS ONE BEGINS TO UNWIND THE STEERING AS THE ROAD STRAIGHTENS, THE STEERING CHANGES FEEL AND RESPONSE REQUIRING AN UNEXPECTED ADJUSTMENT. THE CAR SEEMS TO WANT TO TURN MORE AGGRESSIVELY INTO THE CORNER AS I BEGIN TO UNWIND THE STEERING. BOTH OF THESE RESPONSES SEEM TO BE MORE NOTICEABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ONE MUST IMMEDIATELY CORRECT THE DIRECTION TRAVEL BY EITHER TURNING MORE INTO THE CURVE OR OUT OF THE CURVE. IN EITHER CASE, THE CAR RESPONDS AND THE NON-LINEARITY MOMENTARILY DISAPPERS

Vehicle is equipped with Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist which includes reverse automatic braking. Vehicle was reversing towards a parked vehicle on the street and the RAB feature failed to apply the brakes and the vehicle collided with the parked vehicle. I am extremely disappointed that the safety system in this car failed to work as advertised/expected resulting in damages to both cars.

I HAD 4,000 MILES GOODYEAR EAGLE LS2 TIRES WHEN I EXPERIENCED A SIDEWALK BLOWOUT ON THE EXPRESSWAY IN ANOTHER STATE. WE HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED WHILE TRAVELING. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID IT WAS SUSPECT SINCE THERE WASN'T A FOREIGN OBJECT OR PUNCTURE, IT WAS JUST THE SIDEWALL THAT BLEW OUT. THERE WERE NO POTHOLES AROUND. FAST FORWARD 5 MONTHS AND ANOTHER TIRE DEVELOPED A BULGE IN THE SIDEWALL. I HAPPENED TO NOTICE IT WHEN I WAS AT THE GAS STATION. LUCKILY IT DIDN'T BLOW OUT. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY TIRE EVER BLOWING OUT OR BULGING IN ALL THE MILES I DRIVE. I'M ON THE ROAD ALMOST EVERY DAY FOR MY SALES JOB. TO ME THIS SEEMS LIKE A QUALITY ISSUE. I STILL HAVE THE SECOND TIRE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LOOK AT IT. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER I TOOK IT TO COULDN'T BE BOTHERED WITH A WARRANTY ISSUE. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO MY WHEEL AT ALL AND I DIDN'T HIT A POTHOLE OR ROAD DEBRIS.

EVER SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR, ALL WARNING LIGHTS AND EYE SIGHT HAVE COME UP ON THE DISPLAY SCREEN EVERY 2-3 WEEKS. TWICE IT'S GIVEN THE CODE THAT SOMETHING IS BLOCKING THE SHUTTERS. TRIED CLEARING SHUTTERS, BUT NO SUCCESS. TRIED REPLACING ASSEMBLY; STILL DIDN'T WORK. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, CAR WAS STATIONARY. NEXT 3 TIMES, CAR WAS IN MOTION. ALSO TRIED RE-SETTING COMPUTER SYSTEM, BUT WARNING LIGHTS AND EYE SIGHT WOULD COME ON AGAIN IN 2-3 WEEKS. MUST BE A DESIGN FLAW SOMEWHERE TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN FOUR TIMES, EVEN AFTER REPLACING ASSEMBLY! MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS ON 1 MARCH 2020. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IN A NEW VEHICLE!

TL* THE CONTACT'S WIFE OWNS A 2019 SUBARU LEGACY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS WIFE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V218000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). HIS WIFE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BROWN'S MANASSAS SUBARU (9018 LIBERIA AVE, MANASSAS, VA 20110) WHERE THE RECALL REMEDY WAS PERFORMED AND THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE CONTACT'S WIFE. ABOUT A MONTH LATER, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AFTER HIS WIFE MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO START THE VEHICLE. DUE TO THE FAILURE, HIS WIFE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO FAULKNER SUBARU BETHLEHEM (330 STOKE PARK RD, BETHLEHEM, PA 18017) WHERE THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS CORRODED AT THE ELECTRIC CONNECTIONS. THEY STATED THE CORROSION WAS CAUSED BY A FUEL LEAK THAT HAD LEAKED INTO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION. THE DEALER SHIPPED THE FUEL PUMP TO JAPAN TO HAVE AN INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED INTO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE ORIGINAL DEALER BROWN'S MANASSAS SUBARU (9018 LIBERIA AVE, MANASSAS, VA 20110)) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO ASSIST REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN THE POSSESSION OF FAULKNER SUBARU BETHLEHEM (330 STOKE PARK RD, BETHLEHEM, PA 18017). THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. After my 2019 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Limited sat outside on a level blacktop parking lot for one week (05-03-23 to 05-10-23) without moving, both passenger side tires were discovered completely deflated. The tires were Goodyear Eagle LS-2 size 225/50R18 95H (front passenger DOT M678 JR2R 1819 and rear passenger DOT M678 JR2R 1719). The tires were original to the car when purchased new by myself at Jenkins Subaru in Bridgeport WV on 09-23-19 with 26 miles on the odometer. The tires had 32,515 miles on them and were rotated 6 times. Sever dry rot on the tires sidewalls was the reason given by the Goodyear technician, Goodyear Service Center, 149 Green Bag Rd, Morgantown, WV, 304296-1748, for complete deflation. It was also recommended that the remaining divers side tires be replaced as they were also displaying sidewall dry rot (front drivers DOT M678 JR2R 1719 and rear drivers DOT M678 JR2R 1819). All four tires were replaced with new Goodyear Eagle LS2 tires (2 on 05-10-23 and 2 on 05-12-23).

Main infotainment display delamination, this causes a safety concerns, as the screen can become irresponsive, and even black out during reverse making the backup camera, nonfunctioning. The other safety issue at risk is that because of the delamination it causes "ghost-clicking" on the screen, and makes the screen irresponsive, veering the drivers attention away from the road, potentially causing accidents as the main display controls all radio and bluetooth, and navigation. There are no indication or warnings from the manufacturer that the vehicle could be a risk to drive. When I called Subaru of America, I was told by the agent that they could not assist, when I brought up, based on my research this was a known issue, Subaru of America offered to pay $600 towards the replacement of the head unit. The head unit dependant on the dealer and labor time can vary from $1400-2200 for the repair.

My husband was driving on [XXX] and the hood of the Subaru flew up, cracking the entire windshield, damaging the exterior of the roof and interior of the roof, the whole hood and frame where the hood meets the car. The car was driven but escorted by local PD to body shop. Less than 48 hrs before the incident, the car was at Paul Miller Subaru for a routine oil change. They were the last people to touch the hood of the car. Paul Miller Subaru has been an absolute nightmare to work with and is avoiding all contact. We are out of a vehicle entirely and they did not even offer to give us a loaner. They were incredibly defensive and rude and all of our friends and family that have leases or cars with them are pulling out of them for their safety and lives. Subaru Customer Advocacy and their Quality Assurance team went out to do an inspection on the vehicle after I opened up a case with them. Case # [XXX] 1-800-SUBARU3 (1-800-782-2783) Ext.119109. They reported that the the secondary/safety latch was "damaged and destroyed by an outside source". The technician at the dealership destroyed the latch during the oil change. The body shop also confirmed the cause of the incident as well. Our vehicle is currently being repaired so the old/destroyed parts would be available for inspection if needed. My husbands safety was at risk because if he was going faster, or if there was a car infront or behind him when he came to a full stop after the flew up, it would have been fatal. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. They first appeared once the hood flew up.
