How is the Carfocal Overall Score Index 2017 calculated?

Use the same buyer-guide overall formula already shown on Carfocal vehicle pages. Use the v2 weighted components: reliability 30%, safety 25%, maintenance 15%, efficiency 15%, and practicality 15%. Tuning is not an overall-score component. Available components are weighted; missing inputs blend toward a neutral 6.5 with confidence and risk caps. EV maintenance may use an explicit prior, and high-performance brands exclude efficiency. Rank manufacturers by the average overall score across all eligible vehicles in scope. This yearly report filters the aggregation to 2017 vehicles before manufacturer ranking. Validate the exact model year, VIN, service history, and inspection before buying.
