When I click the button to start the car and then quickly reverse, the system locks up. It's a safety hazard. It's happened to me 4 times. Twice on 7-14-23 and another two times within the last 3 weeks.

The vehical when engine is cold. Has delays and lags. I didn't think much of it when I first bought it, I assumed the computer was trying to learn. Well car has 12000 miles on it and still does it I've been to the dealer several times. They have told me this is normal?. Until I went to a different dealer. Service Manger states the vehical has a software problem and none repairable at the time ( I have paperwork to prove it) I tried to lemon the car out after that. Vw state because the info wasn't written by a service tec, they won't lemon the car out? I fear my wife getting t boned.

On 2/8/2023 When starting my vehicle my digital instrument cluster did not display anything. (No Speedometer, tachometer, etc) While the cluster is not working, the Red "Level 1 Warning" light is displayed which tells you not to drive the vehicle. The issue was NOT resolved with restarting the vehicle, or letting it sit for several hours. The issue "self-resolved" the next morning and has not reoccurred (yet) I have noticed that on certain random starts the digital instrument cluster can take over 30 seconds to display any data. Bringing the Vehicle to the dealership, they found no codes indicating that the cluster/Digital Dashboard PRO did not function. The dealership said that they will not be able to diagnose the problem unless I bring it to them in the "unworking" state. However, the vehicle would be undriveable in that condition.

While driving on the freeway, the overhead console fell down and hit my wife in the head, causing her to swerve. The console forcibly hit her but not cause any serious injury, however she was shaken up. Had she swerved and hit another vehicle or drove off the road is our concern, as this scenario may happen to others. When we spoke to the VW dealership where we purchased the vehicle, we were told that this type of incident has happened approximately 10-15 times to other vehicles. The service manager claimed that the affected vehicles were from the model year 2019 and 2020. When asked if there was a recall, we were told no, and that VW only replaces the affected console(s). The issue, as told to us by the sales manager is an “over torqued” screw(s), that when exposed to heat stress, cracks and causes the overhead console to fall. We were also advised to notify VW about the problem/incident.

Happening within the first few weeks of purchase from new in November 2022. Delay and wildly inconsistent acceleration from a stop. This is most noticeable within the first 10 minutes of driving and is much worse when cold. Often, when accelerating from a stop, the vehicle does not move for several seconds; when the car does begin to move the acceleration is erratic and often results in wheel spin and a loss of control. We’ve nearly been t-boned on several occasions because the car’s acceleration is erratic. I’ve taken the vehicle to the dealer for service, they replicated the issue and said there is no fix. This is stated in the repair order which is attached. No warning or service lights. I do not feel this vehicle is safe for public roads. This issue is widely reported online and from speaking to the service department, widely know about. There should be a recall before someone gets killed. This vehicle has a fundamental safety issue.

7/9/2023

Malfunction with power delivery/transmission: I often experience inconsistent acceleration/power while driving at low speeds, the loss of power and jerks feel very similar to an engine misfire. Safety Risk: This behavior is very dangerous as we instinctively push down gas pedal to overcome lack of power and it causes the car to rocket forward as too high throttle has been opened and one can easily lose control and crash. Occurance: I feel this loss/inconsistent power situation happens at cold start and once the car is warmed up it doesn't occur anymore. If I don't push the gas pedal the power delivery is very inconsistent and car will jerk which feels like like a misfire while slowly the power delivery smoothens out.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

The vehicle stutters or hesitates when accelerating from a stop. This is even more prevalent when the car has first been started. This is a major safety issue as when my family is pulling out into traffic the car just lurches forward initially before then finally just taking off. It's almost as if there is a delay in fuel being sent to the engine to move it forward. It shakes a little and then goes really fast. You can hold your the gas peddle down some and the car won't move then after a second or two it finally accelerates without moving your foot at all. This is a brand new car. Seems incredibly unsafe especially when I have a family of 6 in the vehicle.

There is a caution light that keeps coming on and the dealer can't tell me why

7/28/2023

Brand new VW Tiguan. The start stop system has failed since a month after I bought it. When I am stopped at a stoplight, stop sign or in traffic, often the vehicle will completely shut off and die. The dash displays a message that says must "manually restart". So then you have to put the car in park and press the engine start button again. This happens every few weeks at random since I've bought the car. I have had it into two different Volkswagen dealerships for a total of four times. Volkswagen has not been able to fix the issue and in fact they say several times it has not even showed a code when they scan it. It's very very concerning that the vehicle computer/scanner isn't even picking up this issue!!! This is a huge safety concern as sometimes when the vehicle dies I am holding up traffic on the freeway or in intersections.

The gas pedal sporadically does not respond (though the car will still roll at idle speed). I learned of this issue first while attempting an unprotected left turn to exit a parking lot with cars approaching me quickly and the car not able to respond to the gas pedal. It almost caused a large crash. The lack of response seems to only happen when starting from a complete stop. The Volkswagen dealership, service manager, and the cashiers all said they’ve received numerous complaints or experienced themselves but no one knows how to fix it. I was just told “be safe.”

SERVICE BRAKES

I purchased this vehicle brand new in 2023. At 12,000 miles, the brakes started squeaking very clearly and loudly and the right rotor would make noises as well. These noises from both the brakes, on both sides, and the rotor happen simultaneously, and instantly, and do so every time I brake or attempt to brake. I immediately took it to the dealership where I purchased it. They told me that the company is using different material for brake pads than they used to use. They also stated that the rotors are a much thinner type of rotors than these vehicles used to have. These statements were very alarming and also made sense completely. I had previously leased this same type of vehicle in 2020 (the same exact model). That previous vehicle had absolutely no issues with the brakes or rotors at all. In fact, that previous vehicle performed so well, that I purchased the same model again in 2023, which unfortunately turns out to be the vehicle I am now complaining about. This VW dealership was unsuccessful in finding a remedy for the noisy brakes. A second VW dealership service department was also unsuccessful in finding a remedy for the noisy brakes. Both service departments claim that these noisy brakes are normal and a normal part of the car. I know these statements are not true and am worried, as a best case scenario, that these brakes and rotors might get noisier as time passes and diminish their stopping power, and as a reasonable case scenario, I fear that these brakes could fail in the future. I have two kids that I constantly usher around in this current vehicle and find it prudent to file a complaint and bring this serious matter to your attention.

The Automatic Emergency Braking, also called Front Assist, activates for no reason. No cars or elements in front of the vehicle. I'm trying not to use cruise control for fear that the Automatic Emergency Braking system might fail and cause an accident. My vehicle was inspected twice by a Volkswagen dealerhsip located in Michigan, and on both occasions, they told me they didn't find any faults, but while I'm driving the alarm keeps activating suddenly every 2 or 3 weeks. On the other hand, I've noticed that sometimes I approach another vehicle very quickly, which in my opinion should trigger the alarm, but it doesn't activate.

On [XXX], I took this vehicle to Galpin VW for service on the collision warning system which began to malfunction on a daily basis and would spontaneously come on multiple times throughout the day, without any other vehicles in front of me nor around me. The service advisor at this service center, Pedro silva, declared to me and my wife that this vehicle was unsafe to drive and stated that he is in contact with VW and their engineering department which instructed to run additional tests on this vehicle. This vehicle now has been in service for this same issue for 6 days and running, including the previous attempt to fix this same issue at Winn VW earlier in the week, which failed to result in any correction. The Galpin advisor further stated that he can not release the vehicle to us in this condition and must continue working on this serious issue in which we agreed, since we can not accept such a vehicle in this extremely dangerous condition. System: The rearview camera system on my 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan failed and has not worked reliably since shortly after lease. The camera intermittently displays a black screen or fails to activate when the vehicle is placed in reverse. This issue has persisted despite normal vehicle use. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: This defect presents a serious safety risk. Rear visibility is critical to avoid hitting unseen pedestrians, children, or obstacles when reversing. The rearview camera is a federally required safety feature for a reason. I am especially concerned because I often drive in residential areas and near schools — places where children may be behind a vehicle without being visible through mirrors alone. I am a parent myself, and the thought of potentially harming someone due to a malfunctioning camera is deeply distressing. This unresolved defect has caused significant anxiety and fear each time I drive. I do not feel safe operating this vehicle, and I worry constantly that I might unintentionally harm someone due to the lack of full rear visibility. It has diminished my confidence and peace of mind behind the wheel. Dealer Confirmation: Yes. I brought the vehicle to the dealership, where it was kept and I was later told they could not fix the issue because no remedy is currently available. No loaner was provided during that time, and I was left without transportation while believing the vehicle was being repaired. Inspection History: The vehicle was inspected by the authorized Volkswagen dealership. However, no repair was made due to the lack of an available fix. It has not been reviewed by police or insurance representatives. Symptoms/Warning Signs: There were no warning lights or dashboard alerts, but the camera would randomly fail, showing a black screen or partial image when reversing. These symptoms started within the first few months of leasing the car and continue

• March 26, 2025 – Backup Camera & Sensor Failure: While reversing my Tiguan in a parking lot on a rainy day, both the rearview camera and parking sensors failed simultaneously. The screen did not display the rear view, and the sensors did not activate. Although I checked my mirrors, the low-lying wall on the left was not visible, resulting in damage to the left side of the vehicle. • July 9, 2025 – Dealership Inspection: The vehicle was inspected at Volkswagen Bayside Service, where I was told no issues were found and that the camera and sensors were functioning properly. This assessment was conducted in controlled, non-real-world conditions, which I do not believe accurately replicate the environment in which the failure occurred. • Lack of Support from VW Customer Care: Reasons Volkswagen Should Cover the Repair Costs • Safety Feature Failure: The backup camera and parking sensors are critical safety systems required under FMVSS No. 111. These features are designed to work together as part of Volkswagen’s integrated Park Assist/Park Distance Control system. • Direct Causation: • Manufacturer Liability / Recall Acknowledgment: In April 2025, I received a notification from Volkswagen Customer Protection regarding “Compliance Recall 91NY – Camera Control Unit.” Warranty and Recall Coverage: I purchased the vehicle on July 26, 2023, and it remains under the 4-year/50,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Driving long the interstate in South Carolina, all of a sudden there was a loud explosive sound and a crackling sound accompanied by the loud explosion. It startled me!! I gathered myself and put on hazard lights and got over on the far right lane to pull onto the shoulder of the highway. I thought that a tire or two had blown but was not the case. I got back into the car and started visually looking around to see where the crackling noise was still coming from. I looked up towards my Sunroof and discovered that a large hole in my Sunroof. Fortunately, my sunshade was closed and shield the debris/glass from spraying my face and body. I took the car to the V.W. dealership and explained the infraction to them. They diagnosed the problem and contacted me later that day to let me know that they were sending the request to V.W. corporate to get authorization to repair under warranty. The dealership did not detect any signs of rocks or debris causing the explosion. Corporate denied the dealerships request to repair under warranty. I filed the damaged Sunroof under my auto insurance. Im currently awaiting for the adjuster to inspect the damaged Sunroof that is at the dealership. I feel that Corporate dud not even consider the fact that this could have been an exploding Sunroof...and im sure that they have encountered this defect before. There are articles on-line of others who encountered this problem.

Was driving on highway at 74 mph when the vehicles loss of air warning light came on. Five seconds later, I heard a pop which caused me to lose slight control of suv. Managed to pull safely over to the right side of highway where I managed to put on the spare tire. Luckily there was no other car to our right when the tire blew if not we would have hit another car and the incident could have been much worse. The tire was taken to two Volkswagen dealerships and they found no signs of nails or glass. It is unknown what caused the tire to rupture in such a way that it left multiple holes and cracks on the tire. The tire size is 255/45 R19 100H M+S

While driving south bound on i95 express lane, the vehicle in front of me stopped abruptly. I attempted to break but was unable to do so. Also the emergency breaks/front vehicle collision warning did not activate. In order to avoid a head on collision, I swerved to the right and my front left side made impact to the other vehicle on their right back side. This impact cause my vehicle to spin out of the express lane and into the regular traffic 180 degrees causing me to be facing incoming traffic. The air bags did not deploy- the state trooper, fire safety, and tow truck representative all commented that it should have. After the incident FDOT had to tow my vehicle to the shoulder prior to being towed away. During this time I was not able to turn the engine off- it remained on and was towed with the engine still running. The vehicle is currently under assessment with my insurance provider.

My Rava car seat was recalled voluntarily due to an issue with the harness tether loosening from debris getting into the latch secondary to a manufacturer design flaw. When replacing my car seat cover as per the recall instructions, I discovered the impact foam on my Rava was completely cracked down the middle. The car seat has never been moved out of my vehicle since the initial install other than to replace the cover as per recall instructions, and my car along with the car seat have never been in an accident. I only discovered the cracked impact foam because I was replacing the car seat cover as per the recall instructions. I have no idea how long the car seat had been compromised like this as I have never had to remove the cover for any reason. I contacted Nuna about this issue and they stated since it is out of the 2 year warranty they can’t do anything about it and to discontinue use. I am now out the $600 I spent on a car seat that allegedly had stellar safety ratings. There are hundreds of people on online forums complaining about the same issue with Nuna’s impact foam. Had I not discovered this malfunction my daughter could have been seriously injured in the event of a crash. This is a huge safety issue and should be addressed with the company. I do have photos I can send in a separate email, however, will not upload on this web forum.

I am a senior on a fixed income and I cant afford to pay anything more out of pocket . I filed a complaint with the BBB and a represented from the service department called me and said , his boss said they will not work on my car unless I remove my complaint to the BBB . I find this very unethical and a bad customer service representation. This car has been diagnosed unsafe to drive . And even though I have a loaner it is not my car I am paying for . Like I had stated it has been in the shop 4 times and I have not missed a payment even though I have not had my car .The front strut is completely broke , the left one is in bad shape , needs a front end alignment and the front collision warning alert does not work . It has been confirmed these issues are there. They said they were going to take care of it until they noticed I filed a complaint to the BBB.
