Delete Your Account

Delete it in the app

This is the fastest way, and it takes effect immediately.

Open the Carfocal app and tap the profile icon at the top of the Home screen.
Scroll to Account and tap Delete account.
Read what will be deleted, then tap Delete my account. For your security you may be asked to sign in again first.

If you can no longer open the app

Email privacy@carfocal.com from the address your account uses, with the subject "Delete my Carfocal account". We will reply to that address to confirm the request came from you, then delete the account and confirm by email. We aim to do this within 30 days.

What is deleted

Your email address and name, and your account ID
Which reports you have unlocked
The list of reports you saved to your account
Your remaining report credits and unlimited pass, if any. These are lost, and we cannot refund them; refunds for purchases are handled by Apple or Google
Your sign-in (Google, Apple, or email and password)

What is kept, and for how long

Purchase records (which store, the transaction ID, the product, and the date), for accounting and to stop a receipt being used twice. They no longer point to you and hold no personal details.
Anonymous data that was never tied to your account expires on its own: the random install ID used to count free previews after 90 days, and a phone's notification address 180 days after the app was last opened.
Usage analytics are anonymous and are not linked to your account, so they cannot be picked out and deleted with it. Our analytics provider keeps them for a limited period.

Your carfocal.com website account

Deleting your mobile account does not delete an account you may also have on carfocal.com, even if it uses the same email address. To delete that too, email privacy@carfocal.com and say so.

Reports kept on your phone

The app also keeps a copy of your saved reports and recent research on your phone, so they open without a connection. Deleting your account does not remove that copy; use Clear on-device data under Profile → Privacy in the app, or uninstall the app.
